Due to the fact that I am space poor and prefer to swap my engines between mechs to keep costs down I used to rename my mechs to the engine they currently had inside them to make finding the one to swap quicker.
However with the introduction of the new UI I can't see the rename function anywhere? Have they removed it or just hidden it somewhere stupid like they did with the empty mechbays counter?
So far this UI seems to be 1 step forward 2 steps back. Love the smurfy style layout but everything else is just unnecessary it seems.

There's an orange 'pencil' button next to the name of the mech at the top.

How many identical threads about these trivial questions do people need as evidence that the UI isn't as intuitive as it needs to be?
I mean - yes, people could spend a little more time figuring things out for themselves before rushing to the forum. Granted. People have been "spoiled" by the fact that other games and common software is very user-friendly. But even so, there comes a point where you can't just blame everyone for not paying attention. It doesn't really have to be this way.

Where quirks are is slightly unintuitive, but there's a button on the mech summary you'd think you'd click that pretty early on - I know I did.
This took me roughly 15-20 seconds to find including opening the game and logging in.
Wants name change > start by looking at the name.
Most things I've seen are like that.
Look at what is written there, wave your mouse over things to see what the buttons do (it pops up with what the button is), and there you go.
Maybe I'm more observant than anyone else? (I don't really believe that)
Maybe I'm smarter than most people? (Not generally no, I'm really not. I think I am for a few specific things I specialise in, but that's mostly engineering related... and even then, hardly more than everyone / people with far more experience than me.)

God damit, you old ppl are anoying.
Back in my day's we used dice and every thing was on paper.
Adapt or get lost.Progres will not stop becouse you cant invest 5 mins to take a look at what you have infront of you.
The new ui is super simpel no problems finding any thing. Intuitiv and smoth. By far supirior to ui 2.0

See... there's been only 1 thing I've seen (where are empty mech bays found) that hasn't been easy to find.
For me, the proof is in the pudding. If a bunch of people are asking where to find it, it's not easy to find. It's as simple as that. Sometimes it may surprise you that people don't look at the obvious place (e.g. the mysterious pencil icon right next to the Mech name), but if a lot of people are asking about it, then you simply haven't done a good job making it obvious.
Same with the quirks, etc. For me, the only thing that was hard to find this time was where to purchase new mechs, because I didn't think to look in the Store. That would probably be a lot more obvious to new players though, who didn't strictly associate the Store with MC purchases.

Having worked in Tech Support, Customer Service and Retail, little to nothing surprises me with the things people say / do.

Well then didn't expect this much hate... Thanks for answering my question and making me out to be a tool I guess :/
God bless the internet >_>

No hate on my part (apologies if it came out that way - it's hot and unpleasant here).
Just there is a lot of this, I'll still answer any questions though!

Remember when the save button was called "checkout," and people (myself included) spent minutes upon minutes trying to figure out how to save their loadout?
