I will post in English and Portuguese, so everyone can understand my point of view.

I see a lot of North Americans and European players complaining about MWO prices, specially about the top tier packages, and even making jokes on the 500 dollars golden mechs. Well, if you think this way, you have to keep reading to see how much we Brazilians pay for this...

The currency in Brazil is R$ (Real).
U$1,00 = R$3,15

Top tier package is U$100,00, or R$315,00

The minimum wage in USA is U$7,1/hour (U$1.200/month or R$3.780/month). Australia and Canada are even better, going over U$9/hour.
The minimum wage in Brazil is R$788,00/month, or U$250/month.

It means, for our wallets, that buying a top tier 100 dollars pack is to expend 2/5 of a minimum wage. 2/5 of a USA minimum wage is U$480 - nearly a golden mech pack!!!

So, if a common guy from Brazil wants to buy a golden mech, he'll need to expend 2 months of his salary. Well...3 month, 'cause our government sucks like 1/6 of our wage in taxes and Internet connection is pretty expensive here.

This is probably one of the reasons MWO has a low Brazilian player base, and the reason we (the few) hide MWO expenses from our wives

Vejo um monte de jogadores Norte-Americanos e Europeus reclamando dos preços do MWO, especialmente do packs top-tier, inclusive fazendo piadas sobre os packs de golden mechs de 500 dólares. Bom, se você pensa dessa maneira então precisa continuar lendo pra ver quanto os brasileiros pagam por isso...

Isto significa, para nossas carteiras, que comprar um pacote top tier é gastar dois quintos de um salário mínimo. 2/5 de um salário mínimo nos EUA dá U$480 - quase um pack de golden mech!!!

Então, se um cara comum do Brasil quiser comprar um Golden Mech, ele terá que gastar 2 meses de seu salário. Bom...3 meses, já que nosso governo suga cerca de 1/6 de nosso salário em impostos e internet é bem cara por aqui.

Esta é provavelmente uma das razões que a player base Brasileira de MWO é tão pequena, e a razão que nós (os poucos) escondemos nossos gastos com MWO de nossas esposas

I got Elite Founder ($60), A La Carte Timber Wolf ($55), Koshi Pack ($30), Wraith Pack ($20), $20 UrbanMech and top tier Clan Wave 3 ($120). Also, I'm planning to buy the Mauler A La Carte ($35). Considering I bought some MCs, I've spend already in this game at least US$ 320 (will be $355+ after the Mauler).

That's 1 and 1/2 Brazilian minimum wages - it is like a guy from US spending US$ 1,800.00 on MWO. See how I like you PGI?

PS: we also pay something like 7% of taxes for international credit card orders... (forgot to add this to the sum above)

But yeah MWO is pricey. But I used to be into magic the gathering. That got really expensive and I easily went over 200 dollars in the first month.
If you think this game is expensive check out warhammer and WH 40k. That's very expensive.
and if you think war hammer is expensive then take a look at the costs for golf >.>

I'm a paintball player, also a very expensive sport :/

And if i ever have a chance to move to Canada i will do it in no time! Don't even think twice haha

Já que se fala em 'grana' aqui aproveito para deixar 3 questões.

Com que frequência é que há promoções de pacotes de mechs?

Vale a pena pegar os 'mastery pack' de $20-$30(parece que nunca entram em promoção) ou melhor pagar o dobro adquirir os 'invasion' ou 'resistance' packs $80 (não sei se alguma vez terão desconto) com o quádruplo dos 'mechs'?

Que 'sites' recomendam de comunidade e loja de 'paintball' no Brasil?
