I'm one of those irritable people that want new tech. Just getting that out of the way.

Back in the day there was a plan of sorts to "realtime release" mechs and techs at roughly the same time as they would of canonically ie jan 1 2010 = jan 1 3050.

the problem arose when the clans came out or community warfare or the first battle of tuk, they reset the clock, yes we get new mechs, but we have not received a new weapon yet.

At the very least I would of expected them to of put in ammo types by now, but lets just go throught the first 5 years of tech right quick.

3051 IC-mech spikes, silver bullet gauss. CLAN-Laser heat sinks.

3052 IC-Thunder LRMS

3053 IC-Blue Shield Partical Dampener, prototype armor piercing autocannon. CLAN-Prototype Advanced Tactical Missiles.

3054 IC-LAMS, Extended LRM's. CLAN-ATM, STREAK LRMS.

3055 IC-Caseless ammo, flechette rounds, inferno mines.

there, 13 items released over five years.

The thing is we really should not be "realtiming" this, as a list of things to put out in that order maybe, but seriously we know LAMS is ready to go and there are so many things to shoot people with in the lore. ive put a lot of money into this, I want new guns, I want new missiles and new lasers.

Meanwhile I would like all the old mechs that have been out "in timeline" for centuries to be in the game first... *shrug*

Since we just fought the Battle of Tukayyid, it's the end of May, 3052. It will soon reset to sometime after August, 3049.

Please don't reset the clock, forget the clock and move on.

Me too, and all the stuff you listed looks terrible to me. Makes the game just another robot combat game and loses the gritty, technological decline feeling that makes Battletech Battletech. Stock 3025 mechs please.

Point is, investing money doesn't actually buy you any influence and you shouldn't expect it to.

To your point, I'd like to see them balance the weapons and 'mechs they have now before introducing anything new. Given PGI's [*cough* Paul's] track record on balancing I fear those systems would all be broken from the day they are introduced.

PGI priorities list

1.) Fix current game (mech rescale, weapons balance, CW, FLPPD, funnel maps, useless scout mechs, "These aren't jump jets!",etc, etc, etc...).
2.) Add new things.

New tech is the one thing that has not been done yet, no I don't count MASC, being mech locked like ecm does not make it useful it makes it a querk.

I through those five years of tech on there for two reasons, one to show that we are behind, and two there are a lot of mech techs over the next twenty canon years for me to put down. I want bombast and binary lasers, inferno srm's , arrow iv's , thunderbolt lens and plasma rifles.

As a community we need to demand these things, we have enough mechs, now we need techs.

There is no timeline. The setting is just a big sandbox, loosely inspired by the BT setting in year 3050. The year is whatever PGI needs it to be at any given moment, in order to sell mechs or have events. January 2016 could be 3049 or 3053. Or it could be both. It could be 3050 on weekdays and 3065 on weekends.

Who the hell knows. Not me. And PGI certainly don't appear to give it much thought either.

But, it'd destroy any balanced they hoped to achieve with the psr-ing.....

I get that now we effectively don't care about the timeline or galactic warfare, except as a game type not as a war. And I get the massive amount of nostalgia in relation to the unseen, and new doesn't necessarily mean better but new is interesting. It is a game and we need an influx of toys.

We have an amazing number of Mechs coming out AGAIN, but the same stuff will be mounted on them over and over again. I for once would like to see a build that doesn't have the suffix vomit at the end of it.

Edit: where the hell is that flea?!?

We do? I don't think we do.

Ah, what you want then is the fabled "weapon balance", "faction balance", and "game balance" - weird, mythical, lostech concepts from a better era of competent game studios.

Canned, thrown under the bus by PGI when they got the green-light for the Locust. Russ (or if it was Paul) has stated a couple of times that the Flea isn't happening.
