There are 4 prior MW titles and a couple commander titles as well as I believe a few mods and even older side titles that all had extremely successful campaign modes.

Yes, they were for the most part single player - but they all pitted one side against another and nearly all of the objective missions would port over quite well into a PVP format. The good news is that almost all of the tech you'd need to make this happen is already stuff that you (PGI) has built into the game, you'd just need to start looking back at these missions and fitting them into place.

Having more objectives to compete over would vastly increase the depth and replay-ability of CW as well as implement a reason for the game to move away from the blob skirmish mode and into lance warfare that would make it far more interesting and inject a lot of strategy into the game play itself.

They could be set based on the pie chart, or completely random and either offer end match rewards or during match rewards like enabling air strikes, lifting fog of war, reducing communications, enabling secondary drop points, re-closing gates and so forth.

Something really needs to be done to CW to make it into its own distinct thing that really gives it that flavor of both "Community" and "Warfare" because currently it has neither and 4v4 isn't going to do anything to change that unfortunately.
