This subject has been discussed til everyone is blue in the face. What you call treating people poorly is someone elses good humored smack talk.
I personally hate smack talk but choose to ignore it. The only thing I can do to stop it is win.

This, people always assume it's just being mean but anyone who's ever played a sport, even with just friends, knows that people can say some stupid things just to throw you off or in the spirit of the game (Unless it's pro sports, bring in "sportsmanship" fines..). People are too sensitive in this day and age, when did parents stop telling their kids "sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you!". I mean i've read theories that this type of thing has happened before, close to the fall of the Roman Empire and various other now non-existant nation-states where populations become so distracted and sensitive to the mundane that their world collapses around them while they bite at eachothers heels, but ...i digress.
Quite simply, people are cautious, suspicious, and some possibly even angry that your whole unit wasnt disbanded, so comments abound shouldn't be unexpected. You can ignore them, agree with them, or show them you don't need cheats to win (and then be called a cheater but then you just laugh it off and take it as a compliment). IMO, in the real world of adults, it's not harassment unless they're spamming your email, or calling your phone, or knocking on your door, or following you around. It's just petty slinging of insults, let it slide off. Or as should have been told to you "Sticks and stones"...
