The names both come from Norse mythology, but that is about all the have in common. The Zeus, Thor (and Loki if you're keeping score) all exist in the current timeline. However, we will not truely encounter either Clan 'Mechs (Loki and Thor) until after the clans invade.

Zeus is not from Norse mythology.

Can you post a link of the 3L? I might consider it being my best match

The Summoner Prime carries 1 ERPPC, 1 LRM-15, and 1 LB-10X AC.

The Cataphract CTF-3L carries 1 ERPPC, 4 MPLas, and 1 LB-10X AC.

That's not really that similar.

However, the CTF-2X carries 1 LLas, 1 SRM-4, 1 AC/10, and 2 MLas.

You could easily convert that into something very similar to an IS-tech Summoner Prime (with different weapons locations, obviously) if you so desired.

You could do the same with the CTF-4X (2 AC/5, 1 LLas, 1 LRM-5).

If you meant something other than the Summoner Prime, then let me know and I'll make a revised post.

EDIT: I just noticed the CTF-4X has the LRM-5 in the head; you wouldn't be able to fit an LRM-15 in that location. =(

Yea I absolutely believe I'm thinking of the Summoner Prime. If you ever seen the introduction trailer everytime you started up Mechwarrior 3, it's the thor in that video.

Yup, pretty sure that's the Summoner Prime. It's very much a "Support/sniper" mech. You sit at long range and peck things apart. He made a biiiiig mistake going in to that city. >.<

If we get the CTF-2X you can make a mostly duplicate design with IS Tech. I'm pulling for the CTF-2X, because it looks awesome and I like having an AC/10, some medium lasers, and an SRM or two. Also, I don't like the dragon. The redesign looks much better than the original, I'm just not a fan of the chassis. ::shrugs::

Clan heavies can be difficult to replicate with the technology we'll have available, mostly because they tend to move like mechs a weight class lighter. For now, your best bet would be a Cataphract with an XL engine, although it's still tricky to match their full loadout just because Clan LRM racks weigh half as much as the IS equivalent and their ERPPCs do half again as much damage.

The Dragon also has a decent shot at it. They're already fast, and they come with slots for energy, missiles, and ballistics. Of course, at 60 tons, there's no way you're going to fit as many weapons as a Thor, even if you were using clan gear.

yea, I guess same primary weapons (not counting tech origin), same speed, and all isnt similar at all. :)

the 2x does have closer hard points though (didnt notice the srm on first glance).

but to say the 3L isn't similar is.... Incorrect. the MPLs are, arguably, a better close range support weapon then the SRMs.
