The problem with trees is that they are a symptom of having map environments that are not dynamic. Areas of threes that are big enough to visually conceal a mech should also effect sensor detection and targeting.
Unfortunately the current ECM mechanic would make such effects pointless. Just another reason why ECM, and the sensor system over all, should be remade.

It's not realistic. I imagine you could just rake a laser through and destroy the tree.
Any Golfer will tell you that a Tree is 90% air, until of course a Golf ball attempts to transit through one...

P.S. A laser could be used to surgically cut down a tree at the base of the trunk. That certainly would be the quickest way to remove a tree, just like with a chainsaw. lol

A. We need trees/foilage like WoT
B. They should be destructible but also you should be able to set them on fire to generate smoke cover...cause BT said it is so
Sadly PGI...lol

And one could likely guess who might also be leading the WHINE brigade when those same cool "fire and smoke" affects got in game and kills their in-game FPS...

P.S. Oh right, let them be turn off-able... LOL
