I'm taking a few hours break from the contest because I'm about to strangle some freaking pugs. We bitched at PGI endlessly for years for them to implement it and yet hardly anyone uses it. Worse, half the idiots in the game seem to have it muted or don't play with sound.

Know what I do get? Endless bitching about people not coming to help someone after they die. If you spend $5 on a freaking mic the lights and fast mediums could have rushed to save you. Hell you could of warned us that you were getting left behind and the entire squad could've slowed its role.

Even worse are the scout mechs that rush off to scout but since they don't have a mic they can't quickly relay enemy troop movements. How the hell do you think you're gonna do your job typing?

Finally because people mute VOIP or play without sound when I try to warn the team about enemy movements they don't know and get massacred waltzing over a ridge like freaking 100 ton ballerina. It's not like I'm chat spamming, unless relaying enemy movements is considered useless and distracting now.

GRRRRRRRR....

Ok... calm now... gonna go find a unit to play with after the contest is over.

When im in group queue - because im on teamspeak and dont need it.

When im in solo queue - because its badly implemented and increases my ping from ~110 to ~160, which is unacceptable.

ye, truth sometimes. But I have expirience, even there is 1 person comanding, 50%-60% of the people still didnt do , what he said. And in 99% its not rude comanding and anything i can say. Most people who use microphone, are very nice to the team, and rly a big "+".

What i find worse, that no matter VOIP, they LEFT all assaults behind (in alpin maps its nearly 100% of the time), and try to DAYTONA. guess what happend.
Assaults shoting in back from enemy lights, and turned dead. Because my light/medium team want DAYTONA for no real reason.

I sayed this voip is useless and not needed but nobody wanne hear. Units have TS and Solo dont want it. My first action was turn this **** off !!! i will never turn it on. I am fine with the chaos and the unpredictability in pug. I dont count PUG as a team its just like u have 12 one men units and this following ongly there own agenda.

I dont wanne hear some teen guy cry about crap , sorry and i dont speak english very well anyway.

My mic setup isn't compatible with MWO's VOIP, so I'm stuck with typing. But... I'm actually really good at it. It only takes a second or two to type things like

lance at F3

many C3 w/ECM

contacts Epsi

SADDLE LOTS

assaults in tunnel

^ assist plz

Keyboard warrior, ftw? =P

It usually takes one person to break the ice before a couple of others start talking too.

When it's used to give information("assaults in D3","I need help in B5", "they are behind us", etc..)rather than orders("bravo lance go scout","you in the atlas go to B2", "don' go left, go right!", etc...) it can work well.

It's true, ppl wanted improved communication but don't use it. The times I've used it have generally been good. A couple stupid ppl but mostly good. I've found that someone needs to speak up first and then others will often join in.

BTW, the 22nd Argyle Lancers are recruiting. We of cource use coms & stratagies.

Here's our website, http://22ndargylelan...njin.com/mobile
Check us out, we may be a good fit for you. Contact Cmetz or Stillradioactive for more information.

dont use it because...
fps go down the toilet, as going down to 10fps
ping goes to thru the roof.

so its a piece of crap.

I, myself, don't use VoIP to speak, but usually listen. When I play with my buddies on group queque, we use our own TS Server.
The inbuilt VoIP quality is substandard, so sometimes its difficult to understand what is said, especially when someone has a strong accent.

It wasn't working for some reason for a while. I got it working, and do listen, but fell out of habit of using it.

I just need to be a bit more proactive and use it to call out positions and enemies.

Interesting. VOiP doesn't impact my Ping. Are you sure its causing the problem?

Unless you are just hunting. Seriously, Not everybody needs to talk on VOiP for it to be useful. I listen, And when I can understand the transmission (thing breaks up like a real radio I swear) I respond if I can with action.

Yes. I turn VOIP on, my ping increases by 50, i turn it off again and it drops back to normal. Completely repeatable.

Voip doesnt change my ping at all. Its steadily 35. It doesnt hurt fps either. Sounds like you guys have crap equipment and bad internet.

My experience:
If I drop with a group, we use proper TS anyway.

If I drop with PUGs, it's 90% of the time like this:
- bad quality
- bad accent (no flame but still makes it harder)
- most of the time it's used unconstructively, i.e. not for proper efficient tactical information, but for some "Woohoo, nailed him!" screaming.

I tried it a few games after it got implemented and every now and then in CW, but I am still very quickyl back to disabling it completely.

So IMHO, the "idiots" tend to be the people using VOIP, not the people that don't use it.

Ill upload a short video of the VOIP function reliably increasing my ping by 50 later. Never said anything about FPS, my rig is high end and i dont have issues with that. 110 ping is pretty standard from the UK.

Strange. I have VOiP on and my Ping is 40-60. Also Repeatable. What's different I wonder. Could it be hardware or something?
