Happens to all of us. A few days back I accidentally dropped an arty on my location, because I was in a rush, and thought I cleared the cover. (I didn't)

This is similar to dropping it underneath the deck in Crimson City or any map with a similar raised portion. Guys on top don't see the smoke, but that's where the strikes hit. Mind you I don't like that it works this way (if the gunners/pilots can't see the smoke, they don't know where to shoot), but it does work.
