Fup, the CB isn't poised to do anything but be released next week, any statements about what it can or can't do, how well it will work or won't work, totally supposition right now, exactly the same as all the statements about how every Mech released in the past was DOA or OP before we ever got them in game and every time those statements were wrong.

Here, the sarna link.. http://www.sarna.net..._(Cauldron-Born)

It's an interesting Mech, designed to replace the Hellbringer, and it turned out to be a rather well designed replacement. Then again, most of the replacements the Clans designed are like that, Shadowcat and Artic Cheetah anyone?

And Quickdraw is supposed to be agile and climb hills well. Centurion is supposed to be slim. Catapult is supposed to be small. Nova isn't supposed to have a torso. Highlander is supposed to be able to lift off the bloody ground!
Why follow the lore now?

The Quick, needs to be fixed, yes.

Centurion, not following you there, the model does seem to fit the TROs, little sexier I think.

Catapult is small? If you define 12m tall Mechs that are the same size as a Timberwolf as small, I'd hate to see what you think big should be.

Nova is never EVER mentioned as having no torso, the TRO artwork is what it is, but the TRO does NOT say you can't twist in a Nova, novels mention them twisting. MW games are the reason people think it can't twist, that's NOT from BTech, lore, canon OR fluff, purely an artistic decision in the first MW video game with the Clans.

Highlander and jumping, a VERY much covered topic, JJ's for Heavys and Assaults need serious work.

And none of those are reasons why following the TRO's artwork, the lore, fluff and canon should be ignored MORE often, they are reasons why it should be FOLLOWED more often.

Hey if having the Ebon Jag be so small will finally put an end to the clan players whining about being at a disadvantage and not having any good mechs compared to the OP over-quirked IS mechs, I'm good with it.

I think the adder, nova, and ebon jaguar should all be returned to their dwarfish non torso twistable chassis. Its part of what made them unique, aggressive looking, and low profile. Im not sure why there would be a necessity to torso twist when you could still move the arms. Mechs in the battletech universe werent designed for meta gameplay as promoted in mwo, but their own unique purposes aside recognizing that one predates the other by many years. Might make the mechs trickier to pilot, but thats what makes the game fun due to the diverse designs and a sense of recognizable personality in each of the individual mechs regardless if IS or Clan.

It might be better to admit that some of that old artwork was really bad, it certainly is better going forwards. I can at least appreciate they kept a good deal of the essence of the design in their current versions.

Otherwise we'd end up with stupid **** like this:

PGI likes mechs with torso twisting unfortunately.

It'd be great to see tank destroyer type mechs with ridiculous armor, but PGI isn't interested in that.

Quadrupeds would not have torso-twisting.

They could side-strafe instead.

It's one of the original artwork pictures of the Black Lanner 55 ton Clan Omimech. Here's a more modern take on the 'mech:

An absolute pity that a mech that looks as good as that newer art... is still such a terrible mech.

I vaguely remember that whole arguement. How much pod space would it have again?

I mean weapons aren't everything, but what the hell are you supposed to carry.. a toothpick launcher? Sad that the poll that guzzler put up up a bit a go, it's at the top for clan mediums.

Also, the comment regarding mechs like the ebj losing torso twist- if that happened , that thing wouldn't stand a chance. Also, while I'm at it , I'd like to point out that the ebj hero is not p2w or even p2optimize, it's pay 2 variation than what can currently be done. Good God.

I recall it being pretty decent in Mechwarrior Living Legends, but there's no mechlab in that game so it's different.

With the new weapons like heavy lasers and whatnot, having fewer tons of space doesn't mean you lack firepower.

Well Sarna says there is a variant that would have 6 energy hardpoints and comes stock with 6 ERMLs. Considering the thing's speed it sounds like it could easily pull off something similar to the Viper with 6 SPLs. Not the best thing in the world but it certainly doesn't sound 100% useless.
