Seriously PGI no info on MASC, no money.
With 6 days to go surely they must know how it's gonna work now, thus why haven't they given us details? The Executioner could be possible even worse than a Gargoyle.
WHY won't they give us details?
This lack of information has me suss that it's not even finalised yet.
Or have a missed something and PGI has given this info somewhere that i just don't look? aka i hate twitter.

in other words... its not designed yet maybe....
you don't simply design these petty things well in advance. its not like you need to test them or something.
last minute kneejerk design works well. (as it did for the clan TCs)

I would still buy a laptop if it was good if it promised a feature that made if faster, but it turned out the feature wasn't working or did very little; if it was the same price without the feature. The Shadowcats bundle is 60$, whether MASC works or not it doesn't change it's price. For some people, not knowing if it works or not is a deal breaker, and that keeps the money in their pocket until they have the guarantee. For me, the S.Cat isn't why I'm buying the bundle: it's the CB, and to a lesser extent the AC, because both look like fun. I remember how hyped I got for the AC after its concept art was revealed; it looked so cool.
But, again, the CB was 90$, whether MASC works or not doesn't change that, and certainly won't effect what is, at the moment, my favorite 'mech of the pack anyway. In fact, it really only effects a third of my 'mech selection anyway.
If MASC doesn't work on release, they'll probably substitute it with a bonus to speed like on the Thor, which seems reasonable to me.

the shadowcat being $60 pack, if MASC is broken then why would i buy that pack and waste money?
to me MASC info is needed to make an informed decision on a purchase. $30 isn't the issue it's buying something that's worthless regardless of the price. No point throwing good money as a useless purchase.
An since the CB is blocked by the shadowcat i'm not willing after the Gargoyle and Fenris expense to spend top dollar to get 2 worth while mechs.
Just my pov.
Just wondering how other people feel about MASC details still not being disclosed.

I dunno, if you ask me, MASC isn't all that big a deal, the S.Cat has lots of things working for it. It sits in the Medium mech sweet spot in terms of speed, it's got around 17 tons of pod space (with armor maxed, i believe i've heard the number 13.5 or 14.5 tons of pod space), ECM in a torso slot that basically has nothing better to put in it, very high weapon mounts, and will likely be pretty short. I suspect with that in mind, it's shaping up to end up better than both the Nova and the Ice Ferret. If MASC is really the deal breaker for you, then I don't quite think I understand. It seems like an odd thing to fuss about.
If MASC is really the most important part of the Shadow Cat for you, just wait for the Executioner to come out. The Shadow Cat doesn't get released until next month anyway, and by then PGI will have decided if they can make MASC work or not.

For me there asking to take on faith this is good, and look how the Fenris and Gargoyle turned out, sounded good but ended up pieces of crap.
For me, it's it really too much to ask, how exactly are u going to make MASC work when it's 6 days from hitting the game? ^ days out and they still can't release details on how it works just sounds suss.
There asking you to buy it in good faith, when sorry PGI's good faith was eaten up with the Fenris and Gargoyle, i want details if they want my money.
I bought top tier wave 1 and 2 and so far i've been saying to myself half the mechs so far have been crud. So in my eyes the $30 per mech chassis is more like becoming $60 a chassis when i take out the crap and i'm not seeing value for money.
So before i put anymore money down i'd like to know exactly how this system will work so i can make an informed decision. Which i think is a fair request. No other game have i played on pc or table top have a company said yeah buy this without having provided full informtion about what i'm buying so i can be sure i'm making the right choice with my gaming allowance.

Didn't Russ say on Twitter that the MASC would be implemented similarly to jumpjets or that cool-shot consumable? You get a stamina bar or whatever, press a button to speed-up for however long the duration is, or how long you hold the button, and if you either don't let it recharge or activate it consecutively too often you risk causing serious damage to the legs?
I could swear I read that on another thread about MASC.

I don't think the Fenris or the Gargoyle were really expected to be good. A lot of people knew that the Fen and Gargoyle would both be really fast but really poorly armed. Sure there was that thing with the Gargoyle having a huge archetype really hurting its mobility... but still. I'm not sure anybody really expected the Gargoyle to be good. Or the Fenris. Mind you, I still play my Ice Ferrets, and I love 'em.

It could still be a work in progress. The last time they showed a WIP - the Cauldron Born model, as I recall - there was a lot of upset. PGI had to clarify that the model was going to end up more stout. I wouldn't be surprised if they were waiting for it to be more polished; not to mention they're doing a big reveal thing soon, so they could be waiting to reveal info on it until then. Is them holding out on info until right before the pack release really new though? They tend to wait on showing anything until before drop.
Just... I guess if you aren't sold on it, you can wait for details. After all, it's only about a week until drop, and the issue should be cleared up by then.

Also, the Execution will come with MASC, so we'll see how that works, and that should help you decide. I personally got the Arctic Cheetah pack, because I love that baby, afterwards I might upgrade to get the Shadowcat.
TL;DR: I understand, so wait for the Executioner's debut.

Yeah, if you thought the Ice Ferret and Gargoyle sounded 'good' based on anything you are a bit uninformed. They were both obviously going to be bad, due to their absurdly oversized engines that we knew we could not change. There is no chance whatsoever that the Executioner will be worse than the Gargoyle, and there is absolutely no chance the Shadow Cat will be worse than the Ice Fridge. They will both be miles better, even if MASC is a paperweight.

Personally I was ecstatic when I saw which mechs were being included in Resist 2. The Crab and Mauler were my two favorite mechs way back in MW2: Mercs, and then the Wolfhound and Mauler in MW4: Mercs.
I never used the Black Knight much in MW4, but I'm looking forward to trying it out in MWO.
I really believe PGI nailed the mechs for Resist 2, I just wish the Wolfhound and Crab had been made available much earlier, due to the Crab being a Star League design, used heavily by Com Star and later the Draconis Combine in the 3030s.
The Wolfhound itself having been one of the first totally new designs introduced in what, 3028 I think it was? I just finished up the "Warrior" series of BT novels, and Dan Allard of the Kell Hounds got one of the very early production models. It was a right beast too.

I fully expect MASC to be a source of complaints from players, whether it be implementation, cooldown, whatever. Me, if I want to play a fast mech, I'll grab my Myst Lynx, Cicada, or Spider.

From a lore/popularity point of view, I agree. All four of those Mechs are famous (or infamous) designs with a rich backstory.
But from an MWO mechanics point of view, it's a terrible package. The Wolfhound, Crab, and Black Knight are all laser vomit Mechs with virtually no distinguishing characteristics between the available variants. The Mauler is just a lighter King Crab across the board with torso ballistics instead of arm ballistics.
So if you're a lore junkie and you just really like one or more of these chassis, then the pack will probably seem fine. I think there are a lot of MWO players out there like that, so the pack will probably sell reasonably well.
But if you're purely an MWO player, meaning that the lore and history of the Mechs doesn't really matter to you, then there's very little reason to buy this pack. Wait for them to be available for c-bills and pick up the two or three variants (out of 16!) that are actually worth having.
