Tired of being wiped by good teams and dropping with bad randoms? Then why not co-op, a fun gamemode where you defend your base against an onslaught of AI mechs or a mini storymode where you attack a base, cap it and defend it against the enemy AI that tries to take it back.
Defend the base - Hold off against an endless horde of AI mechs for as long as you can.
Assault - attack an enemy base and cap it to attract the enemy so you can root them out.
Info - MM support up to 12 man team.
>In match store(Co-op only) - Can buy upgrades/guns/armor - ammo - health - mini turrets/laser types/missle types/ac types - put up barriers for cover. Every kill earns money for in game store to buy these.
>Maps change and enemies too, so it's not always the same.
>AI will torso twist - use arty/air strikes - get stronger every wave - flank or rush you...or maybe both.
>Every 5 waves earns 20,000c-bills for in game and in match store - every 50 waves earns a custom co-op mode camo can be used on any mech in any mode on MWO - every 100 waves earns 300mc.
So how about it, do you think it's a good change of pace from the current?
I mean why not, whats to lose.

PVE is coming and it'll probably be coop, in order to justify it being online rather than offline.

Stuff like that requires a lot of effort... Crimany, building a 'reasonable' AI (unlike what turrets have now, where they are incredibly accurate, but also incredibly stupid) would be something requiring a lot of effort all by itself. Having mentioned the turrets, as bad as they are, just think about the difficulties making those things MOBILE?
I'd recommend hiring away people from games like EQ and WoW (where they have incredibly mobile PvE mobs that are very powerful and, at least from the face of it, seem to have some fairly detailed AI built in) to try and short cut the development process.
No need to 'reinvent the wheel', when you hire away a few of the technicians that build 'em...

der fighting other players is hard. I want to kill AI mechs that stand still.

If we can cut the number off ashats by 50%, the game might be that much more pleasant.

I miss having to scout for the enemy team on bigger maps with lots of hills and sensor warface actually being a thing

I have been honing my skills in the Testing Grounds.
I am proud to report that I have many 8-0 wins to my credit there.

Assuming they make that date, and the PVE/coop sells like hotcakes, who do you think PGI will start to cater to, the Online game as exists now, or it's new cash cow?
Remember Transverse and how they were planning on transferring "resources" to that faceplant of a game? It failed spectacularly, but if it hadn't you would have seen them let this game wither and die while squeezing all they could out of it.

It doesn't sound like they're going to monetize PVE / coop, even though many players (including myself) have been asking for that. And I don't think they will be selling an expansion pack that will let people play PVE offline either even though people have been asking for that too. I think their business model will always revolve around mech packs, so there won't be a new cash cow.
But I do fully expect them to roll out a new game project in 2016 or 2017, unless the Steam release is a massive success.
