Just a simple tutorial video, nothing advanced, nothing special. :)

Perhaps this will help some players who may be confused or unsure of what sort of techniques to use when a brawler closes range on your mech in a bad spot, or if you're a beat up sniper, etc.

Don't panic and just pick your shots, ride close the heat like a wave, and make unpredictable but precise movements.

Nice fight

I can't imagine doing that myself.

Well it's not too hard, if that Jager took his time and placed his shots I should've been legged a lot sooner.

Just gotta stay patient and place your shots. It's not that difficult people!

My biggest problem is rushing shots under duress. I always feel like I don't have enough time to twist, fire, and twist away again (even though the time is usually there).

Well played there, I'm sure that guy thought he had you in the bag.

Well done. Also interesting to see that I'm not the only one who came to the conclusion "f*** this thing's arms" when working with the Nova. The dual cERPPC design is one I've been enjoying a lot myself.

I will admit, I probably would not have won that fight. Very nice shooting, and not a bad job of asstanking that guy's fire. So many people forget they still have rear armor when their front's been stripped and their structure's halfway gone; for some reason they still think their rear is their 'vulnerable' quarter.

Really it depends on how much back armor they took off, toss an xl in that situation and that is no good.

A 2x ERPPC + 4x MG build would have been fun if the arms didn't drag the ground.

What the hell was that Jager doing, man? It's almost like he didn't want to shoot. Was he heat-soaked? Save 4xSRM6 alphas for kill-shots...

The point is to get the armament out of the arms entirely, given the Nova's tendency to shed its arms at the very earliest possible moment. Use the torso-mounted hardpoints, eschew the arms completely, and find that your Nova's ability to hurt the enemy lasts much longer than before. Then your gigantic catches-ALL-the-bullets arms become useful shields, at least until one of your gigantic catches-ALL-the-bullets legs catches enough bullets to fall off.

Yes, and that's exactly why I got rid of all but the center and one side of my nova to put two uac5's on it =P Laugh all you want, but it works decent for a nova!

This stuff you can learn and improve on immensely by doing 1v1s in the lobby. It's also a blast to compete directly against your buddies and having a beer.

I swear all of your videos show people that DON'T want to kill you. That Jager should have had you, but dumb pugs I guess.

EDIT: I tend to skimp on rear armor, generally 8-10 points on most of my mechs. That said, if my front is gone and it's the only thing that would keep me alive for an extra couple of seconds, I'll spin around and let my rear armor take a hit to get that one last shot in.

Yeah I run 6-12 armor on rear center and torsos... smaller the tonnage, the less armor typically but thats my range...

That guy didn't want to kill me?!?! He came right at me! xD

He should have had me but maybe he panicked cuz of my erratic movements. Which is what I'm getting at I guess, regardless of which one you are, make sure you take that extra split second to line up your shot or handle your heat properly. Stay cool and line up your shots, but still remain aware of things. Don't overthink. Discipline and staying calm goes a long way no matter what sort of mech you are...

That guy was so horny to get your kill that he totally lost his brain. I mean you are legged and show him your remaining, damaged leg, even jump up so he could hit it and all he does is alpha away and wait for his ghostheat to bleed off.

On the other hand, kudos for running a STD jager I guess :D

That jaeger was terribad, that is.
Funny thing - I had similiar moment. Got face-to-face combat with 6xUAC5 DireWhale in my XL Gauss jager. Lost all armor around my mech (every single bit, front, rear, even on legs and head ), got every section cherry red structured (head was yellow tho), yet saved both geese till friendly DireWhale came to help a little. Together we managed to kill dat thing and both lived till match finished.

It's not about the Jager and his skill or lack thereof... at all... it's just to give people more ideas for how to deal with those situations when you get ranged by a short range mech when you're in a long range [or very hot] mech.
