Maybe a visual reward in game would be great though to be honest. Yes in game is quite bare minimum for players off the field but something there would make sense even.

They're really pulling out all the stops with incentives, amirit?
I guess sales are good enough that they don't have to incentivize?

I'll say again. $480 = 8 games
I'm sorry but I find comments like this make me shake my head in dis-belief over the myopacy.
If you want a single-release game go buy one (Or eight). Trying to compare/contrast between two entirely different products and trying to draw a correlation is just mind numbing.
I can get behind dis-liking the F2P business model... I'm not real fond of it either. But for crumb sakes, this contrast is not a rational one.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty sure everyone felt like they overpaid on Wave 2
IT took a lot of small patches to make the Fenris worth while (and the release of the D variant, its all about the D), but there pretty fun now. And the Hellbringer is great. But the other 2 mechs are just junk.

In regards do the "entitled" discussion, I'll just say this:
It's not so much that people who spent $480 deserve to be given free stuff. You don't deserve anything other than what you got. But in the world of business, companies often go above and beyond to show appreciation for their more valued customers. They give special gifts or special deals for special clients, whether those clients are big companies or individual consumers.
Not because they deserve it. But because it makes good business sense to keep your most valuable customers happy. When you give them something extra, they're more likely to stay loyal customers.
Me personally, I don't give a hoot what PGI does to the 'Ardent' players. Doesn't affect me at all.

I think it would be cooler if they just gave the "Ardent" Clan players some Invasion (I) versions of the 4th variants.

Free mechs that I can't sell, or put a different camo on, can't get a mechbay from, and have two of. Yeah. Free mechs that I used to level a chasis and have let sit since then. Yeah.
You can ask support to remove those mechs you have twice and can not sell so you have free mechbay.
I did that...

They still got what they paid for. They didn't have to pre-order; when you do so you do so knowing that it's possible the mechs may be "meh" - and in all honesty, it was pretty much accepted knowledge that Wave 2 wasn't going to be outstanding from the get go.
They ordered the mechs, they got the mechs. *shrugs*

Jesus dude. If you were to quit the game PGI would have to shut it's doors.
The business model of MWO is kind of weird. Rather than having a fuckton of players and a bunch of them spending a few bucks here and there, they have a handful of guys that are.......

just for sake of backing jazzbandit up.
1. Xcom: Enemy Within
2. Total War: Shogun 2
3. Battlefield Bad company 2 (not anymore, but it was my primary game before i got here)
4. Portal 2
5. Shadowrun Returns (last two both due to community created content)
6. Orcs must die! 2
7. Firefall
8. Space Engineer
9. Magic 2015 (released in 2014, don't be deceived)
so you can't say it's impossible to get several games with longevity

Its all good. Doesn't make up for the fact that I'm a mediocre 1.0kdr. (red).
But I have extra to spend on it, so I do.
Battletech is weird in general, it has a built in audience of people who started in the 80's - 90's who have kids of their own now - full time jobs, and quite a few of us have extra money.
So in a way these packages work for Us. I know there not optimal for the 2000+ crowd.. It is definitely something that needs to be worked on.

Or maybe he is just a customer that loves the game but realizes he paid a crap load for a fairly small return. Angry whales are bad hmmm kay. Without the whales being fat and happy this game dies. Maybe that is what you want, who knows.
