This looks like my kind of 55 tonner.

Pros:

• Its in 3052 so timeline available (unlike the Hellion )
  
• It's fast( I like mobile mechs)
  
• It has decent firepower( most hard points are mounted around cockpit level)
  
• It looks amazing for omni mech.

Cons:

• No jump jets makes it not as mobile as other mechs of its tonnage( still excellent land speed)
  
• ECM variant has weapons not yet in the game(ECM isn't a big deal to me, lots more variants available too )
  
• Not yet In game
  
• Have no idea how MASC plays in MWO yet( so it might hurt its performance we'll just have to wait and see )

This is just another mech I came across while checking the clans mechs to see what else the clans had in store for the IS and so far I like the look of it not too powerful I think.


What's all your opinions on this mech, do you think it will be released in a later clan pack( the next clans medium mech for the next pack is most likely going to be the Viper)

Yep. Only, what, 13 tons of pod space, though? Also, the PRIME has an ECM as does the ALPHA, so it is available in timeline. Basically, a heavier, tougher, faster, but less maneuverable and lighter armed Shadow Cat. There is a reason the Thunder Chicken got phased out while the Shadow Cat lives on. Still, would be an interesting addition to the lineup.

I would love to see this one, the Huntsman, and the Viper released. All solid mediums in their own right - or at least interesting.

I would love to see this one, the Huntsman, and the Viper released. All solid mediums in their own right - or at least interesting.

Indeed they all are (just wish this level of variety of clan mechs was the same for lights )

Only 11.5 tons of pod space, actually.


Though, lots of SPLs and 160 Kph with MASC, 124 base speed.

The fire falcon looks like a fun little mech definitely has a lot of fire power too

The Black Lanner would be a very niche design, methinks. Scads of energy are about its only chance, what with...eleven-ish tons of pod space, after maxing armor?

That said, it'd be able to hit light 'Mech speeds with 55-tonner armor. With M.A.S.C. it'd hit crezzeh-meth light 'Mech speeds, managing footspeed no other 55-tonner could ever make. Load it up with cSPL, or cMPL depending on, and turn it into a pretty wicked mobile energy...

Wait a sec. The Ice Ferret can already hit 5E at 142kph base footspeed, which is about as much as one can reasonably cool, and it still stinks. Either that or I cannot, for some reason, pilot the thing for beans despite being a pretty experienced Cicada guy. Hrm. Counterpoint: could the Black Lanner manage to be an up-engined energy-centric medium that doesn't blow when the Ice Fridge is an up-engined energy-centric medium that...kinna blows?

I have pretty good luck with my Ferrets, 4x med pulse works well but 3 SRM 6 and a single Med Pulse in the CT is a mean Gen Buster.

Twist like you are covered in bees and it makes a huge difference....honestly.

My GOD the Viper...

I don't even care that it has less pod space than the Ferret. It can jump for weeks, it doesn't need M.A.S.C. to move fast as hell, and if Piranha was at all generous with the pods we could see 5E/4B no sweat and watch it turn into a Clan Ember.

As soon as they release that thing, I'm never going back to anything else.

With the ice ferret its more of an opportunist hit-n-run mech when I've piloted it, I would suggest running four MPLs(much more manageable heat levels then 5 ER MLs even with the added heat sinks) on it, excellent instant kill potential on unaware pilots, mostly lights.

I enjoy This mech but prefer the Mist lynx( light pilot at heart)
