The Nova is actually bigger than it
And dude how its arms are it has weapons that are lower than it as well
I think it's animations need to be reworked so it stands at least taller than the Nova
I'm loving its details and design but it's just way too short
I was prepared for smaller than storm crow
But smaller than Nova is too much

Included a size comparison picture in the OP now. They're about the same size, I'd say.

The white TBR and NVA are my screenshots from Mechlab. The Invasion pattern Ebon Jaguar and TBR are screenshots from PGI's video. I've included the TBR's for size comparison, so you can be certain the Nova and Ebon Jaguar are correctly scaled.

I think the Ebon Jaguar is at least a big longer than the Nova... I dunno I'm not going to ruin the punch over this.

I'm just excited to start mechlabing on Tuesday.

Cauldron Born is a canonically small Mech, it's about time PGI got it right isn't it? It was specifically designed to be very low profile to make it better at ambushes.

People are too hung up on 'Light should be little, Assault should be huge' to realize that is NOT how FASA did the Mechs. Nova is a short Mech, barely over 8m originally, actually shorter than the Adder which is also just UNDER 9m tall. Catapults are the same 'size' as a Timberwolf, height/width/depth, but people expect them to be radically different sizes for some reason.

Come on, a LITTLE logic please, since FASA clearly used it in this area. Fusion engine in a Light that is also used in a Medium, Heavy AND Assault is NOT going to be different sizes in each case, it's the SAME ENGINE! So pray tell, how can I take that fusion engine in my Cataphract and have it fit in a Panther when that Panther doesn't have the height or width in the torso to fit it due to how PGI sized the two different Mechs? PGI screwed up the scale of Mechs to cater to the LCD crowd who equal Class name with the size of a Mech, dumb mistake but one they'll never fix.

So when they get it RIGHT, people go nuts...shesh.

Well, those arms will be the biggest weak point on that mech. Other than that, it's cool.

When you're turning old robot designs from a tabletop game from the 1980's and turning it into a FPS game, you have to be careful to either modify the robot designs or compensate for them in order to make mechs balanced.

If PGI is going to keep the Ebon Jaguar as a small mech, to be consistent with lore, then it stands to logic that they should adjust its stats to compensate for this in-game advantage. After all, MWO isn't P2W, right? Far be it from PGI to make Clan mechs the best mechs in the game and then put them behind a paywall.

So we'll just wait and see what kind of stats this mech has, as others have said. Maybe it will have poor quirks, torso twist, arm movement, etc, in order to compensate for this big advantage and make it a balanced mech. Maybe this won't be a problem at all. But right now, it's time to call a spade a spade and acknowledge that this is a pretty small 65 ton mech.

About the same size as a Nova, which I've yet to hear anyone say is too SMALL, rather they complain the Nova is too BIG.

So..which is it?

P2W...seriously...you went there with a Mech that will be cbill purchase in a few months? Really?

One is 50 tons, the other is 65 tons. So it's possible that the Nova is too big while the Ebon Jag is too small, for their relative weight classes. But like I said above, size is relative. "Too big" or "too small" depends on what it's capable of. The Awesome is big for an 80 ton mech, but it does have armour quirks that go some way towards making up for its enormous size.

I don't think we're ever going to agree on this. Some people call it "early access" and say that it's not P2W if the mech is available for C-bills eventually. I understand your argument, I just don't agree with it. But I don't want to discuss it here. It's been discussed in so many other threads already.

The Ebon Jag/Nova comparison discussions make me wonder what it would be like for the Nova to have retained its torsolessness, and given generous turning speed, turning radius and jumping boosts. It definitely got hit the hardest among all the mechs to receive new torsos.

If anything the Nova was animated too tall, but honestly I don't mind, seems pretty fair to me.
