I bought my last laptop specifically for mwo,I ran it on high settings for about a year but now it's struggling. I'm going to pick up another laptop but hopefully one that isn't so expensive.

This is on sale right now, would it be able to run smoothly on high with good fps?

AMD quad-core A10-4655M APU processor and 8GB RAM deliver optimal power and speed for your everyday computing tasks

750GB hard drive offers lots of room for your important files

Integrated 802.11b/g/n WiFi keeps you connected to the web from your home network or any WiFi hotspot, while Bluetooth technology lets you wirelessly connect to compatible devices
USB 3.0 ports offer blazing-fast transfer speeds, while an HDMI output lets you connect to an HD monitor or HDTV so you can play games and watch movies on the big screen

AMD Radeon HD 7620G integrated graphics card delivers crisp visuals

Beats Audio speakers provide realistic and lifelike sound for an immersive media experience

ProtectSmart hard drive protection acts like an airbag and protects your hard drive if you drop your laptop

Watch movies and burn DVDs and CDs with the SuperMulti double-layer optical drive

Preloaded with Windows 8.1

If not, what should i be looking for in a computer? Thank you

Honestly, you will probably be sorely disappointed with that. I don't think high settings will run very well at all.

I don't know what you're planning on spending, but on XoticPC for a few less than $1000 you can get an i7 4720M and GTX 960M. That's about where you want to be for a decently smooth experience on a laptop.

I don't know much, but I can already spot 3 possible major problems:

1- Windows 8.1 (This could cause you some problems with performance. I'm honestly not sure MWO support Windows 8.1)

2- AMD Radeon Graphics Card (I'm not sure it's strong enough to run MWO on anything above Low settings, and even then, I think it won't hit 30+ fps)

3- AMD Quad Core Processor: This is possibly the biggest problem. MWO is very processor intensive (your GPU isn't taxed anywhere nearly as much as your CPU). You want an i5 at least. However, I will state that my knowledge is limited, but I believe the i5 is still stronger than the AMD quad-core processor.

I hope someone else will give you more helpful input.

The A10 chipset here is on the 32nm arch and is a low voltage chip. It is great for multi tasking but not great for gaming. I think that one came out in 2012 also. There are newer and more powerful 6th gen AMD APU's to be found look for somthing with a R7 graphics.

That said it will run at a meduim setting okay with about 25-30 fps. I have basically this same laptop and am running 16GB mem. It was a cheap $500 plus my added memory.

Oh, I am running Windows 8.1 with zero problems.

Found it.
The AMD A10-4655M is a mobile low-voltage (LV) quad-core processor based on the Trinity architecture. Officially introduced in Q2 2012, it is the direct successor to the Llano A-series of APUs (Accelerated Processing Unit). The processing unit is manufactured in 32nm SOI and integrates a 2.0 GHz CPU (up to 2.8 GHz w/ Turbo Core) with a relatively fast Radeon HD 7620G GPU alongside a dual-channel memory controller, video de- and encoders and a northbridge.

Look for an APU that wasn't put out 3 years ago..

mwo will have no issue running on 8.1, as far as the game is concerned it's just like win8. set the game to run in DX11 and you'll be fine.

Your nvidia fanboy is showing. http://www.notebookc...0G.74863.0.html if you would like hard numbers rather than people's opinions who confessed they don't know what they are talking about.

Now you are just hating on AMD all over the place. an i5 is going to run a little bit cooler than an AMD APU that's pretty much the only difference.

The best way to see how this laptop will handle gaming is to read/watch some reviews on it. My amateur enthusiast opinion though, is that unless you are going to be streaming or watching 4k netflix movies at the same time, the laptop should be able to handle the game on high settings with almost no problem.I run the game on medium with an i3 and intel hd3000 graphics with steady 30fps until lrmboats wreck my face.

If you were able to run the game on high settings on you laptop before and it's gotten sluggish recently, rather than retiring another perfectly good machine to a landfill, a few suggestions: re-image your drive with a fresh install of windows. Don't trust the laptop manufacturer's site to have the latest drivers, go to the hardware manufacturer's site to make sure you have the REAL latest drivers. Look up the specs for your laptop and see if maybe you can put a better CPU in there, look at upgrading the ram(speed then size). Consider throwing an SSD in there and install MWO on it. All together you'll spend a fraction of the price to upgrade the one you have. If you do decide to chuck it...feel free to send it my way, I'm always finding ways to use rigs people are going to throw out :D

Thanks for the info, but some things I want to clarify:

1- On the AMD graphics card point, I wasn't singling out AMD, I meant that particular card might have problems. Simply by checking out some of it's benchmark tests

2- Same thing with the processor. I have nothing against AMD, but I believe that the significantly higher clock rate on the i5, combined with a few other variables would make a difference, and the i5 would be a better choice for a processor compared to the one in that laptop.

Most of my input was based on what I could dig up from notebookcheck.net , since I already stated that I don't know much about these things. ;)

For a Laptop, Go i7 Quad core, GTX 860M (or was it the 960M?) is minimum Recommended GPU IIRC
Something like this Sager would be the Minimum you should Look For: http://www.xoticpc.c...015-p-8083.html

also, it would help to know what you had before that was able to Run MWO on High Settings?

If you want to run games like this on high setting you will be spending at LEAST $1000 and that if you build it yourself. I dont know many high end gaming laptops that go for under $1500 honestly.

That's actually the sager I'm looking at, myself. Gonna upgrade the cooling system, and switch to copper cooling as well.

(does using the IC Diamond Thermal compound and Copper cooling heatsinks make a difference? Because that's 114 dollars extra.)

Not surprising that the first reply (mine) is the same conclusion that 6 argument posts later have finally concluded as well. This is the MWO forums, after all.

This kickboard guy is right about Windows 8.1. MWO has no issue with it. He is dead wrong about the CPU, though. That thing is weak, and MWO eats CPUs for breakfast. Intel CPU for this game. Any fast GPU will do from either manufacturer, but when it comes to CPUs it's go Intel or go home (especially when you're talking about laptop parts).

OP, you have your marching orders. Everyone else, carry on.
