They were excuses, lack of Faction Chat, VOIP, and LFG used by bad players to shift blame of bad gameplay to something else. Now that those excuses are no longer valid, they have to move on to something else to blame. Once that is fixed, then on to something else to blame.

The repetitive meatgrinder that they complain about will NEVER CHANGE. If you are in counter attack mode, the best way to victory is to grind 48 enemy 'mechs into dust. Same deal with Attack Defend, you have a better chance blowing the gun when all the defenders are blown to pieces. They gave us lanes for a reason, and that is gigantic open maps have their own problems. Its like some people had this ridiculous fantasy they would run around in a stock Raven-3L on a map that takes an hour to cross, stumble on the enemy is some random remote place, and then say "Fire leader this is Fox 3, code red!"

Why are people so obsessed with faction progress and stamping unit names on planets in a mode where there is nothing at stake and which offers no rewards for either of those things. You lose planets, doesn't really matter, you gain planets, doesn't really matter.

If they removed the planetary map from the game and just had the CW mode in the group and solo queues throwing out random attack/defend/counter-attack scenarios it wouldn't make any difference to what we have at the moment.

It has been over 6 months and still nothing has been made of the territory control aspect of CW. And they'll reset the map again before that changes, making any work put into this round of the CW beta useless :D

This has been a key discussion point in Mercstar many times. We can only hope phase 3 comes sooner rather than later because it looks like PGI doesn't plan to squeeze in planetary rewards before then. Right now I am playing with decks, trying stuff, getting LP. Some units have created some of their own roleplay by getting paid big cbills to fight in certain factions. Ultimately community warfare is going to be whatever we make out of it, but some features we are really handcuffed without(like planetary rewards, unit to unit cbill transfers, a reason to even have a coffer besides cancelling a contract).

Hands down, CW needs more depth to it.

It NEEDS the Lore and planetary rewards for ownership.

And you are right, CW will be and is what we make of it. The most important word there is; WE. We shape our experiences in all things.

Why I am glad to be associate with a group of people that understand why 'we' is important. Glad to see that 'we' have Wednesday Night Warfare. Glad that some go the extra mile to be inclusive and get people together and play together.

I had a friend who used to feel the same way about CW.

So I steered him the direction of the Training Grounds - where he wins EVERY MATCH!

:)

Actually, if/when we get a bigger number of players playing CW, we're going to need some better matchmaking to sustain it.

If you wanna play CW for real, simply get into your faction teamspeak.. Or try to at least organise the PUG's your dropping with via VOIP..

CW is a group thing, simple as that..

So, even if you really don't want to join a TS or use VOIP, and prefer to play alone, at least stay with your lance/team, learn to anticipate their movements and tactics, try to focus fire..

Dont just trickle in through a gate, wait for the others and go in together as a group/murder ball..

I would also like to see a system where Dragon pilots in Kurita get a small bonus, Vindicator Pilots in Liao, Atlas pilots in Steiner, Stalker pilots in Marik, Jagermech pilots in Davion, etc etc etc. Give each faction 1 or 2 staple mechs or variants. It gets slippery for two reasons, which house has access to which variant gets messy, and #2, battletech nerds go ballistic over this sort of thing.

I think it would be a cool feature and can be done as simple or as complex as PGI wants.

So like,

Steiner: Atlas, Zues, Commando
FRR: ?
Kurita: Dragon, Panther, Jenner
Marik: Stalker something something Cicada?
Laio: Cataphract, Catapult, Raven, Vindicator
Davion: Jagermech, Blackjack

Whatever, you get the picture. Even if it cant be perfect just add it for a small LP bonus and the Lore buffs can go nuts all over it.

Kin3ticX, what about ability to bid away tonnage/mechs to gain increase rewards?

Like when one team feels really confident, they could sacrifice 1mech/60tons (each player) to gain something like 1,25x LP / C-bills rewards.
Or even sacrifice 2mech/120tons to gain 1,5x LP / C-bills...
(we can play with numbers)

This could allow comp units to get challenge while crappy guys will gain some chance.

If you are a "casual player" (that's what I am I just happen to be good) that is NOT willing to find a group, use VOIP, or take anytime to get better. Well then, YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO WIN!

A bunch of solo players aren't a community! All the tools and units willing to take in and provide players are there there. If you refuse to use them <INSERT YOUR EXCUSE HERE> then you deserve to constantly lose until you play the team game with a team.

I won't budge on this winning is earned not entitled or even required! If you don't have fun losing or feel the need to improve because of so many loses then you're not a gamer at all.

I'm far from hardcore I rarely play the game enough to be labeled as such. Yet I maintain a 73% win ratio, and on average play with 1-2 friends sometimes more but let's be honest most of us olds barely have reason to play the game unless a new mech pack is out.

PGI made a solid game to play and have you all the tools needed to be a success quit making add ELO threads to get freebee wins cause you don't want to put forth any effort!

TL;DR
NO EFFORT = NO WINS (No one deserves to win, but you should be able to play and you can)

We have separated solo/group queu for skirmish,assault,conquest as a lot of casual players,noobs,novices,trolls...whoever doesn´t case about units, going tryhard etc.

Now they all are allowed into CW. So quess what, they try it, they suck and they will blame game. They DON´T CARE about what you think they should do. That´s the problem. :D

SO why not split CW into solo/premades?

Premades will get better matches, PUG will suck versus another PUG yet they will not be disgusted and leaving as soon as they see 12men at other side..you saw this post a little below ? http://mwomercs.com/...-cw-summarized/

In future they won´t get any bonuses from holding planet yet they will be able to get ranks and rewards.

OR disallow solo guys into CW at all. Or at least unless they have rank 6/10..or whatever across any faction...as proof they have played CW to some degree...

EDIT: i had idea about one planet for PUG play....add lowering of attack/defend options for every faction. Tied them to scout missions in previous attack window plus allow all faction to attack/defend any planet from their particular side (IS/clans) and we will see even decent population..

Drop Davon and come to FRR -- the FRR hub TS is free and its were you can get a CW group with a bunch of nice -- but slightly odd -- people.
