What's the policy on seeing some of the 64 hackers back in matches?

I read one's blog where she says she's already back under a new name.

I heard another in VIOP comms a few days ago - sorry but after watching the match vid where she wallhacks banshees, its a very unmistakable voice.

Should we report names to PGI or just let the cheaters play?

If they continue to cheat they'll probably get banned again.

New Account = New Player, as far as I am concerned anyway. But if they're caught cheating, then ban them again.

I would not be surprised if they are coming back. I had matches where I was getting shot with LRMs when
- I was behind cover from all enemies.
- I was not NARCed.
- they had no hidden spotters, I checked.

OTOH, if my girlfriend got banned because she accessed her account on my hacked rig, I would be on my hands and knees begging PGI to let her back in. I'd take a bus to PGI headquarters and circle the building with a "Let Her Back In" sign till I dropped.

Someone find that guy and tell him to man up.

They can come back all they want.... Feel free to buy the Clan Invasion Masakari Pack as well for another $240... and all the other packs they lost when their accounts got banned. I am fine with them having to start over completely.

I doubt they want to lose that much money again... but if they do, and get caught again, more free money for PGI!

As long as they aren't still cheating, I don't care if they come back or not.

It would be hard to ban them again outright, but their accounts can be monitored.

Totally agree, hackers only use weapons that require "aim".

LRMs and Streaks... Those are ALREADY computer guided, no hack required.

If an account is caught cheating, it gets banned. The player behind the account has little to do with the actions necessary. We all expected at least some of the banned folks to come back under a new name. The loss of their paid content and built-up stable of 'Mechs is a brutal blow. Hopefully enough of one to keep them on the straight and narrow the second time.

If not...well, they have first-hand evidence of what happens to cheats. They want to play that game again? I'll continue to wave as they get tossed out over and over for the same offense.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to hit on this

This shouldn't happen, unless the girlfriend's account was also utilizing the cheats, in which case tough cookies for her. If we let people whose accounts show active cheats come back because "Oh I didn't know! It was my boyfriend's computer!", then we may as well just not ban anyone for cheating in the first place.

That said, PGI bans accounts and not IPs or other machine identifiers for specifically this reason. They don't want to dragnet things and catch innocent folks up in it. This really is a case of PGI - and I myself, for that matter - preferring to let a hundred cheaters get away with their shenanigans rather than risk one single innocent account getting the axe. I believe that is in fact their stance, so girlfriends innocent of wrongdoing should be good. Girlfriends guilty of wrongdoing, even by accident, can take it up with their douchebag boyfriends.

PGI's stance directly from PGI. A mod should sticky that somewhere, I foresee it coming up regularly.

No other explanation for what happened 'dude.' Even LRMs cannot magic lock you under those circumstances plus you have the Radar Deprivation module equipped like I did.

There is no known cheat that allows people to lock you under those circumstances.

Simplest explanation is that you missed a UAV or distant spotter with ECM and sensor range extenders.

Report them so that they get banned again. Had some strange games during the weekend aswell.

Best thing would be that PGI creates a hardwired solution to this.

Assuming she was telling the truth and not just throwing her boyfriend under the bus you mean.

Frankly, she was a real pain on the forums. The fact that she used hacks to cheat her way up the Leaderboards was also a nuisance. If she's back, then she'll be an even bigger pain than before.

It's highly more likely your situational awareness was lacking.
