That's the mech's name and that is what it does. We have a lot of light mechs now, and seeing them fulfill their intended purpose won't hurt the game. If people feel that flamers are lame, then put a quirk on this mech to encourage it.
And when we have destructible terrain perhaps we can set some structures on fire (that may or may not burn down depending on game balance) to generate smoke and heat, this can add a new dynamic to the battle. Smoke and fire can screw with visuals and thermal imaging.
Other mechs have their own Battletech flavor such as the Spider w/c is supposed to have superior maneuverability while midair, the Rifleman has a functioning radar dish and the Warhammer has a floodlight (scru you Harmony Gold!) or the centurion's AC has a chance to jam (and unjam), or the Cyclops who has a C3 computer, etc etc etc.
But come on, make flamers mandatory on the Firestarter. Thanks!
