Well, regarding the last JJ nerf, Russ explicitly said that they want the 'Mechs to feel heavy and more tank-like. They think that this version of JJs achieve that. I don't know if they want to change their mind/stance.

Personally, I like how it's implemented in MechCommander. It doesn't show how high you can jump though, but you can jump quite far away with force. Would be nice to do death from above.

They clearly need to change something in their mind/stance then, jump jets just aren't as fun as they could be! They currently only serve 3 purposes: help in climbing up (not so much jumping), feathering on the way down and, only for fast light mechs, jumping across a span. But the verticality component is almost nonexistent!

So yeah, I'd completely be down for any kind of change, because anything has got to be better for those of us who want to get vertical!

I am going to have to test this again because when I was on Canyon, jumping from a standing position only took me halfway up the wall using all JJ fuel.

Basically it's a good idea to not jump from: A, standing still, and B, wall hugging position.

With A, you only get minimal forward movement but it depends on how the mech's jumping animation works.

With B, when the mech's jumping animation includes forward movement, i.e. it jumps diagonally up and forward, you will hit the wall which will sap your jump height and you will just move straight up.

Can you get on top of the citadel? The roof? Without 30 tries?

If you can get up there, your jumpjets work and are usable. If not, they are trash.

It's that easy. I take every JJ mech there, if it makes it, you can use it on every map but if you can't, don't bother trying mining or anything. Canyon is a bit special because the walls are not straight up so you can pause your jump in the middle. Still a bad idea in this tall robot.

I saw an Exe jump over some fallen logs in Bog. I was pretty surprised at how high it got.
