back in the day more warfare took place on the forums than in game.... it was the place to be.

Forums are a ghost town now compared to the past... hit mwo reddit or the mwo thread on the rsi forums for the real story.

* New UI released 16 months ago, allows for dynamic events and flash sales

* Private matches and in-game units

* Clan mechs

* Quirk system for upgrading UP chassis

* Community Warfare Phase 2 (only one real gamemode, got played out in four months)

* Real VOIP and chat lobbies

* Performance improvements

* SRMs fixed last year and poptarts nerfed (tho JJ's need unnerfing), so brawling is viable again

* Match rejoin feature

* Role rewards system (you get XP in game for certain actions like flanking and staying in formation)

* TrackIR functionality

* 3/3/3/3 matchmaker, complants about tonnage imbalances have been almost nonexistent for a long time

* They just released a new mechlab and are still tweaking it

* New spectator tools

* Respectable community manager

* Champion and trial mechs being voted on by community now

Thought I'd give you real information, since regrettably all you got on the first page was salt.

one more thing... if clan mechs are released, how did they balance them? or they are just insanely OP?

I'm too salty apparently so I'll let Rebas Kradd, the All-Dressed, correct me,

but Yes, CW isn't complete. It's tagged as Beta 2. It came out in decemeber, you can select faction, and battle over planets, but there's no real point for that to happen yet. The inner sphere map has been reset once (hence Beta 2) because of all the improvements that have been made.

Clan mechs are balanced by increased heat, longer burn duration for lasers, and AC's shoot a chain of bullets rather than one slug like inner sphere. The offset is their increased range.
Clan mechs have armor and structure upgrades locked, as well as jumpjets and the engine.

We missed that with our long sabbaticals.

Basically mechs are mechs and the metas so washed out right now you can just stick ML and Gauss on anything and stand still while firing for 10 mins.

The current loadouts on these mechs are both sad and predictable.

But it was worth it. I took off around a 10 month period during the Phoenix Pack stuff.

Just a couple more things since I have to be Moon's editor... ;)

Clan XLs require both side torsos to be destroyed for the engine to go, instead of just one. Also, Clan LRMs are ripple-fire like MW2.

The fun part with Clans is that instead of swapping out just components, you can also swap out pods (i.e. put the left arm of a Dire Wolf A onto a Dire Wolf B) and play around with hardpoint combinations that way.

The Clan lineup is actually kinda feast-or-famine right now...most of them are pretty underused to being too slow (lights), too hot (Nova, Gargoyle) or just as not as good as the Timberwolf and Stormcrow (excellent mobility/agility, godly hitboxes). There's been some progress on that front, but still a ways to go.

The most recent Clan pack (Wave 3) actually offers significant hope of Clan mech variety, although I doubt IS pilots are going to benefit.
