I have been playing around with the Blackjack for a bit, and I find the laser build to be against my taste. The ballistic variant AC2 spam is horrible when caught alone (too low burst), so I figured I'd try upgrading a bit. I ran 2xAC5 for a bit and was quite successful.
However, I'm thinking of dropping some heat sinks (heat is quite manageable so far), and losing the JJ (even 4 JJ is not enough to get me into a lot of sniping spots).
So when I noticed that I have some spare tonnage, I'm wondering if I can whack it up to AC5 + UAC5 instead? All considering, the basic ammunition usage should be roughly equal, so I can split the ammo half and half.
What do you think? Does the added UAC5 add enough damage to make it worth considering the extra tonnage and less overall ammo (and also no room for any laser, so I literally have just 2 guns) and the loss of jumpjets?.
Blackjack Build: 2Xac5, Or Ac5 + Uac5?

IMO UACs on a BJ usually aren't worth it.
For me, at least, a UAC and a regular AC combined would be too much for me to handle. If I was going to go with autocannnons, I'd say stick with dual matched pairs. But even then, Blackjacks will have a lack of firepower, insufficient ammo, no JJs, and be completely ammo dependent when trying to mount anything above AC2's. Keep in mind that you will burn through UAC5 ammo MUCH faster than regular AC5 ammo.
The Enforcer does the Dual UAC game much better than the Blackjack.
Whichever variant of the Blackjack you were going to use for this dual AC build, I'd consider trying one of the following builds:
-1x AC20 / 3x ML
-1x Gauss / 4x ML

I have been causing havok in my BJ-3 this last week, a laser boat, but in my BJ-1DC I love to run this.
Xl225
(1) AC10
(5) ML
Pew,Pew,Pew,Pew,Pew, Thump, rinse, wash, repeat. I carry 3 tons of AC10 ammo, and 12 Double heat sinks.
Runs a tad Hot, but it does have that AC10 pinpoint front loaded damage so if you get hot, just cycle that AC10 only. I really like this build, but you need to run it as a skirmisher, and almost never be in front.
I have Cicada that I run 1 ERLL and 1UAC, it may seem weak, but it is not, and I think that build could also work in a BJ if you like UAc5's. I always prefer UAC5s over AC5s myself.
If you want 2 Ac5s or UAC5s, then the 1DC with a XL200, 10 DHS only, no energy weapons, stock armor and 6.5 tons ammo is doable, but your ammo limited .. 2 straight AC5s give you 8.5 tons ammo at stock armor levels.. which I think is 272 out of 306.

XL200, max MLs for hardpoints, 1 AC/10 or LB-10X w/3 tons ammo, DHS, Endosteel frame... AMS if you can squeeze it w/ 1/2ton ammo, max out armor as most as possible. This is a common loadout I use on all my Blackjacks with exception to the Arrow which is stuffed with 2 LPL and 6 MGs

I've gone with 2AC5 and 2MLs on a couple of BJs. Anything more, and I either don't have enough ammo or enough speed.

I've ran the 2 UAC5 on the BJ1 before quirks because I couldn't get the damage out of AC2s and AC5s didn't fire fast enough. It was a blast. With careful ammo conservation and maneuvering you can pull off some damage and have a fun match. That said I always took 4 jumpjets in my BJ1 to get to high enough places to deal damage to my foes from above (The tops of the pillars in tourmaline).
Go with UACs if you feel you really need the fire rate and be conservative with the ammo.

Ive played with dual UltraAC5 on my BJ and its great fun and often get 500 damage games, but thats about it as you cant carry more ammo. You have good range and can spit out a lot of ammo if you dont get jammed.
