Consumable strikes are still ridiculous. I bought the Ember on a masochistic whim today (4SPL, max engine, 5jj, 4MG) to replace my 8-SPL Firestarter-A, and out of 6 games played, 4 of them involved being insta-legged/back-cored by a strike that was either nowhere near me initially or that I never saw nor had any visual/audible warning about.
So really PGI? You're going to continue allowing players to spend a measly 40,000 cbills to instantly ruin my match with a gimmicky magic-card "Meteor Strike!" spellcast that has absolutely zero gameplay drawbacks?

I sugest you pay more attention ingame and fix your armor allocations.
I have well over 100 games in an Ember and I have never been crippled by just a strike, I make sure any component can survive an AC20 hit, it would take a direct hit from one of the 35 damage arty/airstrike shells to take any section off, if you keep moving that much reduces the odds of a strike hitting you in the first place.

to get hit by arty 4 games out of 6 you are ether unlucky or standing still, I cannot see any other possibility if you are sure it was air/artillery strike which killed you

What it feels like losing repeatedly while trying to get even just a basic daily win, while still (usually) maintaining high scores:

You forgot a few things:
  • I'm occupied fighting 12 other mechs.
  • I do not come with rearview mirrors, nor can I see around corners or through solid objects.
  • Very rarely is your mech going to be starting off fresh when a strike hits you, unless you spend all your time avoiding a fight.
  • Even assuming you do start of fresh, how do you enjoy suddenly having no armor & half internal health on your legs because someone dropped 40k cbills on you?

As long as you keep ruining them for us.

Cart before the horse, bub. Don't ruin the game for people - then you can expect them to not complain about it.

Keeping it small today, like the amount of time I had to spend getting doubles today, thankfully. (RL trumphs)

A glimmer of hope: players are starting to finally bend and acknowledge/realize that the quirk system is out of hand - gauss rifles that fire as fast as AC-5s only being the most glaringly obvious example.

I really hope something big happens to fix it all before steam release, let alone Solaris; Solaris mode, in the current state of the game, would be a nightmare, 'cause there's no equivocal balance between 'Mechs. It's get quirks or go home, unless you have tons of laser hardpoints and at least one ballistic hardpoint (which of course almost all Clan 'Mechs can manage). I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that the Solaris experience, when it comes, will also mean that balance will reach a point that anybody can acknowledge that it's in a good place, so that a Solaris experience would have no chance of being a stale "monthly meta" scene.

'Course the sized hardpoints thing (with the caveat of keeping 1-weapon-per-hardpoint limit!) would help a ton with this, too.

Welp, took a mini vacation, came back and watched the townhall, in which Russ dropped quite a few bombshells (http://www.reddit.co...all_show_notes/)
  • CW "phase 3" is taking a different approach, going for one big release of awesome rather than rolling progression. I'm cool with that
  • Mercs vs Loyalists will become alot more different, and space made for "lone wolves", as well as a potential 50-100 pilot limit per unit. I'll be waiting to see how that goes
  • IIC 'Mechs. Cool.
  • Turrets gone from Assault Mode. Just taking out the LRM turrets woulda been fine with me, but this removes several frustrations, so that's good.
  • "Looking at a complete to bottom relbanace of all mechs in game...call it a MWO battle value system...public test in mid July....Would like to see it live in second August patch, probably will slip though." LOVE THIS SO MUCH I CAN'T EVEN EXPRESS...! And normally I'd expect something like this ^ to take, like, a whole year - to have the window be so near, just a couple months, is amazing.
  • More map updates to follow in the vein of the new River City. Awesome.
  • Would like to see 4 man limit for group qeue. I personally like this idea alot - but *only* if other sized groups are given an arena to compete in, especially 12 v 12, outside of CW. It would also probably mean that you would be able to merge solo & group qeue back together, so shorter matchmaking times......
  • Hit Reg Update - something something rewind state, something...July 7th. OH DEAR KARENSKY, FINALLY, YES!
  • Regional Servers, will be selectable ingame just like game modes. This is awesome, especially because of the implementation - WoT's method is a pain in the rear, following War Thunder's example here was the right choice. (I can't help drawing connections to other games I've played, sorry Russ :P)
  • PVE...sometime in 2016 (and most likely not early 2016.) I will have to be patient for this, but at the same time, knowing it won't be even longer and go to 2017, most likely, is good news.
  • Solaris is somewhere between CW phase 3 and CW phase 4, whatever that might look like. Sounds like it will be a while, sadly...but I'll keep on dreaming.
So all in all it looks like alot of my major complaints are going to be addressed, and what's more, it'll be within the next 1-3 months at most.

/end positive rant, I guess? I had to go back and edit alot of the OP, totally deflated! lol

"notetoself": Spending free time all day in the mechlab and then trying to put in a 'casual' game in before calling it a night by hitting "play now" with my eyes closed, as though trying to sneak up on the invisible illuminati cult clearly at work making everything difficult (lol), does not work very well.
Need to wait for the fixes to *happen* before I can expect to take it easy, whowouldathunkit?

I might have thought about it. Thunk is another word for thud and has no relation to the thinking process. GRAMMAR NAZIED

Seriously if you have this much problem with this game (and judging by the way you act in game and from these screenshots of you being a smeg head to your team) I'd say you don't enjoy this game. So please stop spoiling the fun other people are having and just leave. PGI isn't going to listen to your trolling and raging.

You started off being funny, then you went and spoiled the fun. Eat thy own medicine, cur!

_______

I'm keeping quiet since I'm biding my time waiting for the patch, plus I have zero interest in the ongoing event...but, I just had to come back and leave a remark after checking the tournament page.

Take a look at the top group performers and how there's such a gargantuan gap between the top 3 scores (-MS- especially, but there's a sizable gap for 228, Kcom, and SWOL too) and the rest of the entire server.

Gee guys, wonder why PGI wants to limit clan sizes to 50-100? I see lots of people being in denial all across the forums, but CW - or anything related to groups really - is being completely dominated by these superconglomerate groups like -MS-.

Where's the competition going to be if everyone is either in the largest top 3 groups or is stuck on the sidelines?
That does not make a healthy game community.

edit:
On the otherrrr hand, after reading this thread http://mwomercs.com/...00/page__st__80, maybe the solutions lie elsewhere than having a hard-cap on unit size.

Given that MWO does not have "chip movement" stuff like WoT does, I don't think it's necessary to have a hard cap, if I think more on it...but there IS a problem with it and it does need to have a solution.

Wasn't trying to be fun.... ssssoooooo.

Also you are basing your credibility on a Town Hall Meet thread where the only thing that ever goes down are the trolls all get together? No wonder you like it. Bye bye. Obvious rage troll, is obvious.

The irony of your post is pungent.

Happy 4th, forumites.

I'm still here~

Found out about WoWs beta on the 4th, so I've been spending time on that (very impressed with it too); but then there was the patch here yesterday!

All of the patch details were great - I love the new river city map, the faster PPCs, the jump jet tweakage, the updated Awesome looks. In fact, the new map is so good that it makes all the other maps feel terrible in comparison - perhaps an unforseen downside, but it's a tangible feeling.

Still...I'm too quickly frustrated by the superquirk mess, so I may continue to keep it 'casual' and wait for the next patch, barring a sale or event or somesuch. And I need probably another week at least for the WoWs "novelty" to wear off (it promises to be an even longer grind than any other game of this type yet...which is saying something), since I wasn't in the alpha/closed beta testing for that.

If the July 7th update was any indication, MWO is getting better by leaps and bounds now.

I can't actually think of anything to gripe out even just as a joke.
I'll revisit the original post here and the ideas I left there sometime during the next week.

Clearly, you aren't talking about World of Warcraft, so I'm guessing World of Warships?

....seriously, the abbreviations overlap between games these days is getting a little ridiculous.

I should be asking the moderators to remove your posts - in fact, that's a good idea....

There seem to be rumblings that Russ might be moving PvE mode up on the priority list ahead of CW phase 4? Sounds like good news to me.
I hope the balance update comes sooner rather than later.

Til then I'll most likely be biding time quietly elsewhere, but that's cause I'm betting it won't be too long til that balance update comes.

It's not a grudge at all. I just don't like to see forum clutter. Do you really feel the need to have a personal thread just for griefing???

It's toxic.
