So many times I see lonely pugs trying to play CW, only to get stomped by a single unit 12 man group. CW is bad enough as it is with the long wait times, low population etc.. So make it easier on yourself. Get on your factions TS and group up. A mixed group of solos and random unit members who are on the same TS and working together almost always do far better than a bunch of mixed pugs randomly thrown together.

In Davion we have a weekly faction wide event called Wed Night Warfare where we bring as many pugs we can find into organized group drops. We all meet every Wed on the Davtion Teamspeak server. We don't always win, but we win far more often that if we were all dropping solo.

Check out this video for an idea, it is from last weeks Wed Night Warfare. It is a mixed group with some unit members and some solo pilots. Many of us had never dropped together before and one of the guys in the group only started playing the game a few days before. Yet we pulled off a win against a mixed group of clanners.

You don't have to worry about me. I will not set foot in CW again.

I've already made it easier on myself... by not touching CW outside of CW-based events.

Rj, I applaud you for the notion and the wednesday initiative but....if you have not noticed the anti group attitude here is very strong indeed. From what I have seen from these forums grouping up with other people and talking to them is akin to setting your own firstborn on fire.
The playerbases' attitude is just too far gone to get through to them.

Are these in game comms or is there a list of third party servers that can be used?

Most factions have a faction community TS server. There is a list here http://www.reddit.co...ory_cw_edition/ but I don't know when the last time it was updated.

All it takes is for 2% of the playerbase to be total douchenozzles. I deal with them all week. I will not subject myself to them for "fun".

Grouping is not "fun" for me. I don't particularly like people to begin with. Listening to them epeen-**** and then scream at everyone simply seals the deal for me.

As I said, CW will do fine without me.

Well thats great for the both of you. So why even bother with commenting in this thread? I am trying to help those who may be interested in CW still. If you two are not, then don't bother, or do you prefer the Troll title?

You're right. Apologies.

I just got my behind rekt by CSJx while I was in a pug and it put me in a foul mood. Rather than continue to have foul moods, I'm swearing off CW and, for some reason, had to advertise it.

Anyway, sorry to derail your thread.

Rj, gotta applaud you for this thread. And for those worried about the "epeening douchenozzles", you will hardly ever deal with them on teamspeak. Most of those guys only play with their own units, on their own ts. Davion ts in particular is a bunch of pretty laid back people who enjoy shooting mechs and talking about nerdy crap between matches. I've also dropped on the clan borders and jumped into some other units ts, like BSK and they are also very cool. Don't let a few people ruin cw for you; the game mode is fun as hell and you'll get to talk with some awesome people. Also, being able to listen to target calls makes you a ton more efficient when shooting. Instead of randomly popping shots, a buddy tells you that a mech to your left has a cored ct. That focus helps your score and eliminates a guy from shooting you or your team.

I can vouch for the Davion TS. I spend a lot of my time on the weekend (My morning, NA primetime) on there and have had many great matches with any number of different unit members and solo players.

I have yet to meet anyone I would consider a douche. During Tukkayid I think my friends list expanded by at least 200 people. Now I can barely even log into the game with out getting an invite to group up. It's great. You might still get beaten by a full on 12 man but it won't be nearly as bad.

It is my understanding that all the IS factions have similar communal TS set up.

See the link I posted a couple replies above. Has links to many faction TS servers.

You shoulnd't need 3ed party software to make the game playable, so take your TS servers and **** off. Honestly if i had my way TS would be in the same catagory as hacks, and macros. If you're caught using it, your account gets the ban hammer.

If more people where using the broaken POS in game VOIP instead of TS, the complaints might light a fire under PGI's ass to fix the damned thing, as well as add some VOIP functions outside of matches, instead of trying to change the mech lab (again!!!) so that people who have movie theater screen sized monitors can build using a smurfy's layout.

In my experience when on the Davion TS if we picked up anyone not on the TS, then orders were repeated over in game voip and where possible were typed as well.

The reason some people don't use TS/voip is because they don't want to, this is a thread for those that do want to but don't know about the alternatives.

I'm a longtime Clan player....voicechat is for people who need others to tell them where the enemy is...
and well..one of my Khan's made us learn tactics, and how to read maps....
The only thing I'd be using TS/VOIP for is target coordination...and if you need to focus fire..its because you are a freebirth

also everytime I run into someone unfamiliar with the BT awesomesauce, or Starlance, TFS, NBT4, MW4 Starlance, MW3 Starlance, Megamek, Neveron, MWLL etc etc who says MWO is awesome
or who says this game is a FPS..
I die a little inside lol

But you know what this game does need...

Mechcommanders :)

"So, here's this thread. It's for people who want to play CW, but might have heard all the rumors about 12 man stomps, PUG hunting etc. These people want to enjoy the mode, but don't know about the various avenues available to them that will help communication, coordination, etc. I have no interest in any of this, y'know what? I should go into this thread and send it spinning off the tracks! Eff everyone who likes a mode I don't!" Dude, complaints about the game are all over the place. Go to those billions of threads. This one was made to help people, includes no trolling or flame bait so either chill out and join the discussion or just save the vitriol for another thread. Also, macros don't get you banned, only wall hacks and aimbots so far. I don't know how many people use macros, I don't, but I've yet to see anyone get banned for them.

I'm almost in my 1st month playing MWO; most of my games were in CW. I still consider myself a noob and still learning/improving in this game. Started as a clueless solo pug then join a TS server then eventually got recruit from a unit. Pug-life wise I can say been there and done that ,despite the still short MWO experience: dropping with trial mech only toget steamrolled by more organized groups with better mech builds, shot here and there while I run like a headless chicken, got farmed from the dropzone, and got killed slowly piece by piece/component by component by brutal 12-man groups. I know at the end of the day its just a game but I would be lying to myself for not feeling bad afterall I've been a passionate cyberspace gamer all my life. With all that said, I understand how pugs feel about CW. So far, I managed to make CW work for me, thanks to those mature players I dropped with during the 1st week of playing MWO. To those who don't like CW; no need to flame threads that extends to those who wants to improve their CW experience but are struggling. If this thread is not for you then just don't post or lurk or ignore these kind of thread at all. There are lots of existing anti-CW thread where you can vent out or play devil's advocate. Go there and foam your mouth there all you want. Otherwise, just lurk or completely ignore this thread. Show some forum etiquette and maturity once in a while.

Going back to topic which is about joining TS: there are really great, cool guys who will really help you; as long you will cooperate with them. Good chance you'll get recruited in a unit as well. Kudos to you threadstarter. I hope more of you will continue help others in CW.
