I'd rather take a Victor or Warhawk over the Executioner to be quite honest.

So you'd rather take a victor with little to no quirks over one with better weapons?

No... I didn't get the Gargles, and have no desire to. It looks horrible to me :)

I only got the EXE because MASC looked awesome - and it IS awesome, so much fun to use. But I don't like fast assaults, I think it's a tremendous waste of tonnage :)

See... if you didn't know/like the Gargles, this is what you get.

Fast Assaults is not really my thing (driving fast in mechs is one thing... having poop for tonnage is another). The Gargles (let alone the Executioner) does not play to my strengths, but having played in too many damn mechs, it's actually not too hard to envision how this would work out (Wubshee is my favorite IS WubAssault, followed by the WubGoyle for the Clans - the Wubhawkv2 isn't too far behind).

Part of this is mentality, and willing to adapt what makes sense based on the mech itself, and not trying truly go against the grain (unless it's actually doable/viable).

Unfortunately, that also means I don't quite excel at much. :(

That's not what you have been saying. You will not see those mechs in "high level play".

You will see Dire Wolves.

Yup, because the Victor has decent hardpoints and can still at least fill a multi-purpose role on the majority of maps. It also makes a great brawler.

Just because those mechs rarely see competitive play as well doesn't mean they aren't solid for the majority of games in the public queue.

The Victor we know can be king on the battlefield. It was dethroned with the nerfs to its agility and jump jets, along with balance changes to ACs, PPCs, and gauss over time.

The EXE's problems come from its limited torso twist range, extremely low mounted arm hardpoints, and relatively large size. Stuff that can't be fixed by just simple quirks.

Thankfully, the torso hardpoints sorta make up for the arms...

Too bad the D variant is locked for a long time. :\

Beyond that, I'd just bump the torso twist angle to about 90 degrees and call it a day.

All right Hades. Time for some show-and-tell.

Gargoyle: Max Efficient (nearest whole half ton) Armor.

Pod Space: 20t

Executioner: Max Efficient (nearest whole half ton) Armor:

Pod Space: 25t

That's a 25% increase over the Gargoyle. Hard increase, right there for the world to see. So your first point - that the Executioner has less equipment space than the Gargoyle - is objectively bust.

Now, your second point - that the Gargoyle is faster than the Executioner, even with M.A.S.C.? True. The Gargoyle will win footraces with the Executioner, and that does give the Garfayle a niche. Load the Garfayle with lasers and it becomes a semi-workable quick Beamspam striker with better armor than most, though its tremendous size still gives it trouble. That is, however, as it should be - every 'Mech needs a trick it does that few others do, that's how we get diversity.

The Executioner's trick is being able to accelerate/decelerate, and otherwise change vectors, faster than some thirty-tonners. M.A.S.C. is a game changer. Yes, without M.A.S.C. the Executioner would not be good. That is not, however, the world we live in. We live in a world where Executioners have M.A.S.C., and where proper application of that M.A.S.C. turns them into incredibly potent city fighters and other dense-cover abusers. Or even regular-cover abusers, as required. The Executioner can dance with the best of them. It represents an unprecedented level of mobility for its size, which gives it a better niche than half the game's existing assault 'Mechs.

Now, clearly that advantage means little or nothing to you. Understood, that's cool. A lot of players don't like assault 'Mechs which do not carry assault 'Mech firepower, and that's fine. But, first of all, you need to get your facts straight before you rail on the Executioner for being the worst 'Mech in the game. It has more pod space by five extremely important tons than the Garfayle, and with its M.A.S.C. it beats the accel/decel curves of just about anything that isn't an up-engined Spheroid light.

If you're going to give the Executioner sass for being bad, give it sass for things it's actually bad at, dude.

I've learned to just ignore anything Hades ever posts, because all it ever ends up being is abject, ignorant, tripe.

I thought I read someone claim the victor is better than an EXE so I just stopped reading before I read something even more stupid.

In my case, it most certainly is.

The only mechs comparable that I have more than 30 games and a KDR of less than 2 are:
- KFX-PRIME
- MLX-C

All other mechs with more than 30 games have a KDR > 2.

Now, this of course isn't very telling. It could be that the EXE just simply doesn't work for me, however I'm usually stuck in high-Elo hell games with a lot of the comp players from EmP, Lords, SJR, 228, etc, and guess what I don't see them running anymore? Executioners.
