It's a trade off, that a lot of players don't want to make.
My clan mechs have locked equipment, like Engines, JJs, DHS.
My IS mechs have locked hardpoints & hardpoint locations.
point is you cant balance 1 to 1 thats why people are in such an uproar over their clan mechs and weapons being **** compared to tt/lore, at this point there is no reason not to try balancing the numbers game like 3 lances to 2 stars

I see that people are finally understanding the reason behind the existence of maddog... and why it was a premium "bonus".
To recap... PGI already knew they are selling the ultimate garbage set of clan armada as wave 2 (most are replaced by wave 3 equivalents...even in lore).... Therefore, Maddog and king crab was put in as an incentive in order to convince people to grab the top tier GARbage pack.

The Hellbringer is actually a nice solid mech and pretty much the only one really worth getting out of the whole lot. I'd say the Mad Dog is better than the Summoner, but of course the Summoner doesn't really set the bar very high. Other than that I agree. It was the biggest collection of junk mechs I've ever had the misfortune of owning.

Those people are naive fools if they really thought that Clan mechs would be "lore" powerful in a game where 1 player = 1 mech.

MASC in the air is pretty awesome, but I'm sure they will identify that as a bug and fix it eventually
I don't really hate the Clan vs IS balance as much as other people, and I feel that all in all if you play the right mechs balance is pretty good. I've been on both sides feeling like I had an inferior mech, and have similarly felt over powered on both sides as well, it is definitely not shifted one way or the other too much.

It is, but we can't have nice things.
However, through today's forumwarrioring, I did find out that Gauss gets boosted by the Targeting Comp.
So... you're welcome.
