Well, what it says is this:

"Increases AC (except LBX) and PPC projective speeds; laser ranges; AC (except LBX), PPC, and laser crit chances. Increases sensor range, zoom, and speeds up targeting data."

It doesn't use the word "ballistics" at all. Why WOULD you assume "Autocannon" (AC) includes Gauss Rifle by default?

That seems pretty specific about what it DOES include, rather than what specifically ISN'T affected.

Now, the data from the game files is pretty clear, so I'm not arguing anything here, but the Mechlab description certainly in no way indicates it would affect Gauss Rifles.

Hardly "derp". My Dire Wolf is dual gauss, 4 ERML, 2 LBX5. If the TC1 only affected the ERML, then it absolutely wouldn't be worth the ton instead of more ammo.

Well, that is something i never noticed so thanks for bringing it up.....I must have assumed that since Gauss uses a Projectile that it got the benefit.

I see its not so cut and dry...

Why have a head location?

Cause its Battletech and that's where the cockpit is

and once this game becomes the so called thinking man shooter it's supposed to be. You may have the option of putting the cockpit in the center torso area. Oh and don't think that's amazing - it has disadvantages.

Yeah... I'd always figured it just didn't include Gauss for balance reasons, which is in no way a stretch. Clan AC's and PPC's are not very good weapons, but Clan Gauss *IS* a very good weapon, so it seemed fairly reasonable that the TC would only improve them. Kind of "wonky" but there are a LOT of things in this game that don't make a world of sense on an immersion/"realism" level.

If it said "Projectiles..." or "Ballistics...", I'd have simply assumed it included Gauss, but instead it very specifically names two weapons, and the only exception is a subclass of the first named weapon, so that's pretty unambiguous. *sighs*

But this is very clearly Yet Another One Of Those Things, of which there are many.

I'm mostly just irritated because all this time I've not bothered using them with Gauss, when they'd have had a substantial benefit there. *grumbles*

I think you would immediately regret that decision. Putting the cockpit where most fire is directed is just a bad idea in general. It's why the catapult, chief among others, had a bad time of it for quite a while.
