It does not, it weighs 10% less

14% more armor points per ton, clan version is... 21%, I think, but I'd need to double check. Bah, I have to get ready for work, I'm sure someone will correct that if it's wrong.

The Sarna description is terribly obfuscated. "More protection per ton" in Sarna terms means that for 1 ton of weight, you get more points...but your armor limit is the same, thus you just save weight.

Standard armor in MWO gives you 32 points for every 1 ton, while IS FF gives you about ~35-36 points for every 1 ton.

The number is also 12%, actually.

You were close Fup, it's actually 35.84 points per ton for IS Ferro, and 38.4 for Clam Ferro.

That .XML comes in handy...So much information!

Yeah, drop the ferro armor and cut the legs to 85 65 (brainfart) and you can get 2 more heat sinks. IMO, however, that build is better for the Battlemaster, you can get 3 more heat sinks and a 375XL.

Yeah, my BLR-1G runs something like that. For the Misery? I prefer My Friend of MISERY

The thing that stings here is the lack of understanding on the semantics of how Ferro Fibrous works.

It never ceases to amaze me.

It wasn't too long ago where there were some raging arguments on this very matter.

Information is Lostech.

Yup, too many people don't quite realise until pointed out that armor isn't limited by weight but by points, and different armor types available only differ by slots used and how heavy each armor point is.

I'm sure it'd be far more obvious if we had Hardened armor in the game...

FF should allow you to add more armor then default. It might actually be useful then.

I have a couple mechs that I found FF to be useful on coupled with ES. There are none that benefit from FF alone. While adding more armor per ton over default sounds good, I think we would then see the same problem with endo. Saving more weight with EE would sound good right up until you realize how much more useful the extra armor is. Having said that, I have no idea how to make both equally viable.

I don't know. There'd at least be a trade-off to consider.

Get 5% extra weight with Endo?

Or get 12% extra armor with FF? (Or be stupid and save 12% of your armor's weight, which as I recall works out to something like 2% of Mech weight if you're carrying full armor.)

I think in most cases I'd still go for Endo. The difference between ~100 CT armor on an Atlas and 112 is barely quirk-level, for example. I'd rather have 5 tons of extra equipment. But at least you'd have to think about it on some Mechs.

12 more points of armor on the front of my Atlas is much more valuable than speed. I'm not particularly afraid of running a couple kph slower to enhance survivability . The extra armor wouldn't go to the center, as it has plenty anyway, it would go to the side(s). Damn AC/20 almost never survives long enough to use all the ammo.

Aside from the pointless FF.... that Misery is so... boring.
MISERY More exciting, more firepower, alright at range, good in a brawl.

I think my personal misery is more along the lines of MISERY
I may have a slight thing for LBX10's... but then I do well with them. Whatcha gonna do. ;)
