Both Stalker and Catapult definitely. When you see them side-by-side in game, you'd never figure the former is supposed to be 20 tons heavier. They look basically similar in heft.

Shadow Hawk isn't too far off IMO. It's tall, but also kind of lanky.

To me the Panther never looked like a 35-tonner, but something a bit lighter. But maybe it's that so many mediums are just a bit too big by comparison

1. Awesome
2. Trebuchet
3. Catapult (fixing the ears would be a good start though)
4. Kit fox
5. Nova

edit: and I don't get the grasshopper hate. It's supposed to be really tall and lanky, and if you look at the side of it, it fits the bill.

There are plenty that are too tall or too fat for their weight, but these are the ones I feel also suffer because of it. In no particular order.

1. Awesome
2. Quickdraw
3. Nova
4. Cicada
5. Catapult

1.) Quickdraw
2.) Quickdraw
3.) Quickdraw
4.) Quickdraw
5.) Quickdraw
6.) Quickdraw
7.) Quickdraw
8.) Quickdraw

34.) Quickdraw
35.) Quickdraw
36.) Quickdraw

78.) Quickdraw
79.) Quickdraw
80.) Nova

A’ight, that should cover it.

.
..

On a more realistic note, for the sake of being counted :P

1.) Quickdraw
2.) Nova
3.) MAD DOG (how has this not hit the tally yet?)
4.) Awesome
5.) Warhawk

Obviously there’s a lot of ‘Mechs with scaling issues, but of the existing chassis I think these are the ones most dis-serviced by their scaling. The Quickdraw is the size of a $*%&!ing Highlander for no earthly reason -

((Brief Aside: can we get a hill climb override for the Quickdraw while we’re at it? Sarna specifically states that the Quickdraw’s leg and ankle actuators are of a special design allowing it to traverse gradients 12 degrees steeper than other ‘Mechs of its type/weight. If that isn’t a picture-perfect example of what a MWO quirk should be, I do not know what is.))

- and it has crippled the ‘Mech ever since its introduction.

The Mad Dog is honestly the same way – it’s a 60-ton ‘Mech which is the size of a 75-ton ‘Mech, and a big 75t ‘Mech at that, because of badly re-used art assets, and it deals an almost unrecoverable blow to the ‘Mech’s durability.

The Nova is bigger than the Cauldron-Born. No. Bad modelers.

The Awesome seems like an appropriate size for an assault ‘Mech, but we can all agree its geometry is…bad. If they’re doing geo fixes for literally the first time ever, it may well be time to give the poor thing a break.

As for the Warhawk? Maybe if it was smaller, PEOPLE WOULD STOP *&^$!ING MISTAKING THEM FOR DIRE WHALES! The Warhawk and the Whale look only superficially similar in the lore/art, why are they almost identical in MWO?! It’s maddening!

Anyways. Hope that helps, at least a little bit.

Also

99.) Quickdraw.
100.) Quickdraw
101.) Quickdraw
102.) Quickdraw…

1) Grasshopper - so tall, it's unusable.
2) Kitfox - Too wide and large for 30 tons.
3) Quickdraw - Far too big. Sized like an 80 tonner.
4) Catapult - Rediculous large. See quickdraw.
5) Gargoyle - 100 tonner size in an 80 tonner. Fix it.

1 - is the awesome of course.
2 - quickdraw (even though i don't ever play them i do think they are too big)
3 - Shadowhawk

Those are the biggest, most obvious outliers in my opinion.

Please don't forget the Grasshopper guys. It's criminally large, just like the Quickdraw.

Cicada - specifically, it should probably lose about 5-10% mass. Still bigger than a Jenner, but not the current significantly larger than something only 5 less tons.

Shaqhawk, Grasshopper...

Trebuchet. Jumping barn door as tall as an assault? Not even skinny-tall like the cent.
Catapult. Seriously, it was well sized in CB, but now it's just overly large when compared to Ebon Jaguar and Stalker.
Quickdraw. There's a reason you almost never see them, similar issues to Trebuchet.

UNPOPULAR OPINION TIME!
Firestarter could stand to be a bit upscaled, seeing as it's about the same height as other lights, but much slimmer.
Thunderbolt could get shrunk a bit (and it's quirks re-evaluated obviously) to compensate for barn-door-itis.

[edit] Honorable mentions:
Stalker
Grasshopper
Awesome
Nova
Kintaro
Cicada

Actually it's the tallest light, at least as far as this picture goes:

That picture doesn't have Clan Wave 2-3 or Resistance mechs in it, but it should indicate the overall trend.

Just wait for that upcoming HSR bone fix thingy and that will probably solve a lot of the problems people are having with the mech. Don't make the mech huge right now, because then hitreg will improve in a few months and we'll find out that the bandaid isn't needed anymore. This is literally the same thing that already happened with Raven leg hitboxes.

It's still a bit off, when you compare humanoids to torsos on legs in the other weight classes (ignoring outliers like the 'pult). However, yes it should wait until after the bone rewind goes live.

Seems there's hope to this after all. So in your opinion, which 5 mechs make it to the list? I'll probably make a count tally as well (it will only include your top 5).

EDIT: In reality, it's likely we can just name all the Mechs which are badly scaled in Tina's thread, instead of limiting ourselves to our top 5 the way I'm doing this.

I'll go first (edit: not in any order)
1) Awesome
2) Quickdraw
3) DragonTrebuchet
4) Catapult
5) Boy, this is a hard one. Can't make up my mind at this point. Will edit later. Nova

TALLY (updated as at UTC 11.45am, Prof RJ Gumby's post (#69))
Awesome: 27
Quickdraw: 29
Dragon: 6
Catapult: 17
Kitfox: 7
Adder: 1
Nova: 19
Centurion: 10
Griffin: 7
Trebuchet: 13
Grasshopper: 11
Shadow Hawk: 4
Stalker: 5
Warhawk: 2
Wolverine: 2
Atlas: 1
Cicada: 1
Timber Wolf: 2
Victor: 2
Commando: 1
Spider: 1
Battlemaster: 1
Vindicator: 1

Player not counted:
NephyrisX (no clear definition of top 5 among the 6)
Juodas Varnas (sorry bud you gonna choose between the treb and centy :P)

#1 is absolutely the Awesome.

I've only a couple of hundred matches in QKD's, but I've probably got 2.5K or so drops in the Awesome stretching all the way back to closed beta.

While both suck, the QKD at least has speed on it's side and some semi-workable hardpoint locations. The Awesome has absolutely no redeeming features at all. Huge frontal profile (MORE frontal surface area than a DireWolf!), ludicrously low weapon hardpoints, poor mobility if you aren't packing a huge XL, and very poor survivability if you are. It can't roll damage, it can't peek, and even with some insane quirking, it still can't throw out any sort of respectable damage before it's cored into oblivion. Lasers? Stalker does it better. PPC's? Ha, it might be king of the hill, but PPC's are in a terrible place as a boated weapon. Projectile speed means you need to engage at mid-short range, where any clan mech can eat you alive.

I think people discount the Awesome as #1 here, because it's been so bad for so long that people just accept that it's a glorified CW turret.

The Awesome is #1 for rescale! Everything else is #2 or lower!

I am surprised more people don't think the Catapult is way too big. Look at the EBJ, it's tiny! If the Catapult were that size, it would be an amazing machine without having to change anything else about it!
