Was listening to the town hall and the talk of group size was very interesting. It seems " 6% of groups are 6- 10 ... Less than 1 % 11 - 12 93% are groups of 4 or less".

So the outcry over 11-12 mans is waaaayyy over blown. Or for that mater 6-10 groups.

But what I was thinking is lets compromise and make the group limit 6. That would probably cover 95%+ of groups playing now. 12 mans would have to split into 6 man groups or play in CW. It would be easier on the match maker and seems a fair compromise.

What do you guys think?

No group limit.
this is a team game so why cutting down the numbers in a team to cater solo players.
solo players have the solo queue. Maybe allow groups of 2 into the solo queue.

In reg group Q (not CW) folks have found out that if you drop with less than 12, but with full lances of assaults, heavies and or lights your chances of getting extra heavies goes up. Or worse if you drop as 12 your chances of facing 4-5 heavies and/or assaults goes up.

How about letting 2mans into the Pubbie queue? That fixes the "I can't bring my newbie friend into group queue to train him" issue.

Also stick 12mans in their own matchmaking vs other 12mans only, and limit the group v group queue to say 8man max?

You will get the "solo-ists" upset. You'll see a familiar face spamming you soon about syncdroppers and such.

I personally dislike the pubbie queue and do not want to play in it as a 2man. I my unit is not on I am quick to find some one so we can make a 2 man and get into group queue

imo for a team of 12 players one can easily let groups of 2 into the soloq if the mm cannot find a place in the group queue for them, i.e. they should be preferably matched vs other groups but if all those groups are way too skilled/unskilled to them then they should be allowed into the soloq

We've been through this before.

The amount of people playing in groups is about ten times less than it could have been if about 2 years back PGI didn't suddenly decide to limit group sizes to 4. People tryed to adjust, tryed to live with the fact that they have to choose which friends they want to play with, but then eventually most just gave up, because there was always somebody left out, and because the meaning of team was completely eradicated from this supposedly team game.

My unit was just over 100 people strong prior to that change. Three months after the change we were sitting at barely two dozen people.

If you want that to happen again and MWO to not have any units at all then go ahead with your "compromises".

We could also implement an 'iwin' button. Who clicks it first wins. TotalLy doable.

I would not mind limiting groups to 6 (but please do not go back to 4...) but only after improving CW.

CW *should* be the default for large groups.

I joined a group to play as a group. I confess playing as a small group can be fun, but thats because of the guys
and gals involved. If the Law could get everyone together got a night we could field a battalion. That to me would be awesome.

One joins a group to be with players one knows, limiting a group size is kinda counter productive to having a large group.

It's interesting to see those numbers that's for sure. I like it when they drop stats like that. Makes you think twice about what's actually going on in server number crunching land.

Your compromise of 6 would do good for the group queue. Maybe do 8 for two full lances. Even then that would make wait times even longer which tends to lead to more QQ... Definitely wouldn't touch group numbers in CW. Not enough players for that

Then we have solos crying they are getting stomped by 2mans, just like they have, now we know that is not factual, by 12mans.

The solution is for good players to spend more time making more good players.

I wish it worked like that, but it doesn't.

People that don't stick around tend to have legit reasons about PGI's NPE.

Russ was clear, IF they remove 12 mans from the group que, which is NOT the CW que, then it will drop to 4 man max, end of story, he's not going to mess with the other sizes because the whining will not stop and he sees no reason to change things multiple times when it'll end up at 4 anyway.

And we all know that won't stop the whining, 'the 4 mans are drop syncing!', which is what Mudhut already claims 12 mans are doing in the solo que. Some people are going to whine no matter WHAT gets done.

Keep group at 12 and allow partners to join the solo queue as a group of 2.

Limitin group size in the group queue is absurd, and I rarely drop with more than 4.

TBH, if private matches were literally free (within reason anyways), then practices with a new player you're trying to get interested in this game would be far more doable.

They'll still have to play in the group queue mind you, but you're better off teaching them the basics before actually diving in.

Changing the group size cap only serves to alienate the playbase that likes grouping up with their friends.

It's only going to change the overall message.. "12-mans OP" to "6-mans OP", despite that no large premade is always the same (unless you're like an elite team, and even then those are few and far in between AND they still can be beaten with proper teamwork - which most players/teams usually don't accomplish in general).
