Hell, if CoD kiddies use VOIP, it's a disgrace this many people still refuse to do, and still expect to be considered mature, or taken seriously.

Oh have no doubts. They will use voip and use it gratuitously. Probably not in the way you would want them to though.

I have come to the belief that PGI is prepping the game for release on Steam.

Stuff like getting rid of 12 mans and lowering CW units to 50 or so players appear to be "things" PGI believes are important to get single players to play MWO.

It wouldn't surprise me if they get rid of the group queue altogether to pander to a new customer base.

I've played MWO for 2+ years and like other games that I have played for a lengthy amount of time, it is pretty apparent that MWO is in a death spiral which the Steam release will only slow a tad.

Getting rid of groups which isn't even a question at this point would kill the game. You can't build a community on a bunch of lone wolves, let alone the COD guys will be gone so fast it will be like 2 weeks of insults followed by a ghost town. This game is not a fast paced shooter.

Lava, we've been told this game was in it's death throes since CB, it's still here and it's getting new players still, so I think I'll ignore the death throes warning yet again if you don't mind.

We have solo players, we have group players and we have the anti-social players. The anti-social players are the problem, and they are a problem for EVERY game out that has team options in it, be it WoW or CoD, doesn't matter, they are a problem.

They don't want to deal with teams, period, end of story. They want 1v1 and that's it, all this team stuff annoys them, mainly because it means they can't do well because they refuse to play as a member of a team.

You'll get the standard reasons for it too ; I have a life, I have a job, I don't have time to dedicate to a team, and so forth, ALL bs reasons because none of those are issues when it comes to being part of a team.

Everyone in SRM has a life, we're all busy people, jobs, family, but we enjoy gaming as a hobby and love the MW series, so we're playing MWO. Our common thing is we ALL prefer to play team oriented games and play as members of a team.

And that's the kicker, the anti-social players do NOT want to be part of a team, they have no interest in that and they don't want to deal WITH teams when they are playing, with or against, doesn't matter, they don't want that in their game.

WHY these people play team oriented games is beyond me, but they try and force THEIR solo only playstyle on every game they play like this, MWO isn't unique in that, I've seen them in MMOs and other PvP team games like BF and Tribes. They get vocal about teams ruining the game in TEAM ORIENTED GAMES! Sound familiar? Just peruse the forums, you'll see plenty of examples of it here.

These are the type of people who walk into Taco Bell and demand that they be served lasagna or chop suey and get upset when the poor kid behind the counter tells them that Taco Bell doesn't make those things. They scream and rant and rave and demand the manager get out there and then scream and rant and rave at the manager when told, once again, Taco Bell doesn't serve lasagna or chop suey. That type of behaviour isn't tolerated so that person will be told to get out or they'll call the cops and have them removed.

Here, we have that SAME personality complaining about team players in a team oriented game and the management, PGI, doesn't tell them to get out, they CATER TO THEM! WTBF? I'm pretty sure it's not a Canadian thing because if I go into a Tim Hortons and demand a Big Mac, they'll show me the door and point out where the nearest McDonald's is, they WON'T send someone TO that McDonald's and get me a Big Mac, so what's the deal?

Tell these anti-social players to either get with the program OR get out. They are a very toxic segment of our community, we're much better off with them gone, so why does PGI keep listening to them and catering to them? They aren't the majority, just vocal, VERY vocal, so get rid of them. It will do the community and the game good to get rid of this type of person, they obviously aren't here to play the team oriented game that PGI has created, so why do we tolerate them?

getting rid of 12 man groups isn't the problem, as when it was 12-12 que and the different que for smaller groups, the players who ironically consider themselves elite, due to mainly meta cheese, where the ones running 10 man groups and saying to people sorry group is full as they want to steamroll smaller groups

PGI, I seem to recall you mentioning some kind of bounty system long ago. Can we have than soon, please, pretty please? :D

To be specific, the first public cries of "this game is going to die in 2 months" came out a few weeks before the founders program was even started. So we've actually had people saying the game is dying, before the game was even made.

To be fair, SRM is a Merc unit, we just have good friends in Kurita so we take contracts with them.

To make it worse, I was Steiner in TT ;)

The fact that I've mentored more than 20 players so far. Both in the forums, and off, makes me think I can mentor.
I'm not sure what it is you mean by "getting fragged"

You post /seems/ okay. However, I can't help but notice the glaring stupid mistake of assigning "majority" to "morons". No one here is against solo players being in any mode. We're against morons being in the game. Morons are not the majority, and if they are, then it is our civic duty to excise them, if they refuse to get on the right path. That path being teamwork, and working with the other 11 players forced to tolerate your presence in the same match with them.

If you bother to read any of my posts, you'll notice I make a big deal out of separating between solo players, and rambos. Rambos are bad, for literally every game, with any kind of teamwork, out there.

I'm not even sure what the rest of your post is even about. We're trying to accommodate other players. Unless your idea of accommodate means "stop organizing and playing as a group" in that case you really should stop posting any suggestions ever, in the future.

"invite them not mug them". What do you mean mug them? How exactly is mentoring them in a private 1v1 "mugging" them?

How about this: Just so I don't misunderstand your posts, and end up ripping on you for something you didn't say. You actually say what you want, clearly?

Progression. As you advance in skills you move up in ques. I have seen some ideas on battle value and maybe that's worth looking into at least in the minor ques. So noons won't come across full alpha kitted out mechs while they are in trials or just basic ones.

New players should not be meeting high elo and highly advanced mechs when they start.

New players and casuals do not need to cross highly skilled players and teams with lot's of experience. It would make the game easier to adjust to and keep the skilled players challenged instead of total wipes. It won't eliminate stomps but it will reduce the number of them.

Besides I don't even consider a stomp a stomp unless its 12/2 in a very short match window. Most people call anything they get killed in a stomp. I think numbers/match time add up to a stomp. If you lose 10 players in less than three minutes you can consider it one. Maybe if we can agree on definition we can start to work it out.

A pretty good post sir! Just one thing, What if as a casual you are actually really good at this game? Seriously should an Ace be held back cause he doesn't play often?

I have nothing against that. My question is this: What does this have to do with what I was talking about?

New players, maybe. Casuals, nope. Casuals are not in the same slot as new players. Again I ask: What does this have to do with what I was talking about?

What if it's a 12-2 in 8 minutes? We don't care about how fast it happened. What matters is the end result. A stomp is any match that usually ends with an 8+ difference in deaths 12-4 is still a stomp.

So, even though the numbers seem to indicate that too many people whine about getting stomped by big groups in their smaller groups, this whole issue would be alleviated by having some good content focused on smaller groups. I know that PGI has said they want to do a 4v4 mode for CW, and I think this would fit the bill nicely, but the thing is they haven't made any real announcements regarding such a mode or what exactly it would/will be like or if it will even come this year.

Statistically speaking, more stomps happen in even matches than uneven matches. In fact, the Solo queue probably has the highest ratio of stomps.

No i think you have no idea, or rather are in deniel. Even russ said that data proved most 12 mans rather just stomp and its true. Just look at responses an attitudes about if you are not in a unit, cw is for hardcores only etc. Yet you want people to play it and want to make some absurd rules to force it and still maintain your full force. Hate to break it to you people but for most it is a game and no one wants to file a 401k or w2 form in order to run with a group. As for dont want a challenge? Yea you dont or you would pug more. You group in order to establish a baseline of performance, you dont want that shaken so you dont shake it. Next you are going to tell me how all mechs are balanced and cw should be the only game mode.

Absolutely. And when I drop PUG in CW, I would enjoy having 11 guys who can work together and watch over me. Even as I run off on my own and dies loud and proud!
