When in time does the different MechWarrior games take place?

MechWarrior 5 (unreleased, unable to find a publisher) - 3015

Started with BattleTech TT sometime in the mid 80's. Since then I've aquired and read most all of the novels and played pretty much every PC incarnation from Crescent Hawks on up. I LIVED mech 3 and 4 multiplayer for a period of time.

I took a pass on the console adaptations. Played one at a friends house long ago and was unimpressed--- Plus, I'm not a console guy myself.

I started with an old Mech Warrior title on the Snes years and years ago, don't remember the name off hand. Played Mech 2 and Mech 2 Mercenaries, Mech 3, Mech 4 and Black Knight.

I've played the table-top version since it came out; played in several tournaments at conventions including Gencon back in the day, was a Tester for the Battletech Cebter that was in Navy Pier Mall in Chicago, won a FASA sanctioned tourney, and have played MW 1 and 2 when they came out. Technology has changed a lot since then so I look forward to playing the newer version. I am an avid Beta Tester for video games and have at least 6/7 under my belt with more scheduled. I think this game is the most anticipated in awhile because the game hits home with my childhood games with friends in the past. Hope the beta invites start swinging soon :-)

There used to be a hobby store call Hobby Center in the Beachmont Mall in Cincinnati, OH that I used to go to when i was 10, and every time I was there I would go past the section of Models and next to that was the RPG section. I would see, right next to the Robotech models from Ravell, the 1st Edition Mechwarrior rule book. I thought it was so awesome looking, even if had no clue what it was about. So as soon as I saved up enough cash to buy it I did. Now mind you, I was not a great reader at this point so it was mostly about the pictures, but they were awesome. After that I bought the Battletech box set. I was hooked for life :-).

If I understand your question the answer is, this game MWO, takes the place of MW5 you referenced above. There is no MW5.

First exposure to Battletech universe was Mechwarrior 2. I also had a Players strategy guide for that game that summed up the Battletech universe (Star League, Exodus, Sucession Wars, Clan Invasion, etc...) so I learned quite a bit from that game and that strategy guide.

Been a fan ever since.

P.S. Since Mechwarrior 2 had you playing as the clans (either Clan Wolf or Clan Jade Falcon), I learned all the Clan Mechs by their Clan names. Since every game after was from the IS point of view (and all clan Mech were now refered to by their IS names), it played hell with my brain.

Madcat??? Nah, that's a Timberwolf :)

My first contact was the cartoon iirc, then obviously the MW series of games. I also remember a turn based free game that was knocking around on the internet in the late 90's, early 00's but for the life of me i cannot remember the name :(

Edit: Titans of Steel, that was it :)

Why were there no MechWarrior sci-fi movie?

And I mean no cartoon.

Even Wing Commander had one in the 90's.

Exactly why I am glad there is no Mechwarrior movie. That Wing Commander movie was a TRAVESTY! lol. As much as I would love to see a MechWarrior movie, it would not be done to anyone's satisfaction. They would probably make the Clans aliens, or have the Mechs talk like a transformer.

Got exposed to Battletech from a MW2 demo back in 1998, played a pirated version of MW3 that my father bought, and then I played a combo pack of MW4, Black Knight and MC2. Been hooked ever since, and I am only 18!

I first learned about it when MW2 came out in the 90's bundled with the Microsoft Sidewinder 3d pro. Loved it ever since.

Tell my credit card company...AND my province's student loan authority...AND my landlord, and... :)

Maybe if I get an unexpected windfall I could afford to plump up for one...maybe *sigh* But then, I also am overdue to go over to the chiropractor's and get my legs sorted out again... ;)
