Why are there engine caps in the descriptions? Does it mean we can swap engines, despite them being Clan refits? Do we get to swap Omni-pods in that case?

You use the IS build rules with Clan weapons and equipment. There are no Omni-pods. Hardpoints are fixed for each variant.

Since they are Battlemechs and not Omnimechs, no.

Well then... I never imagined myself saying this, but the Jenner and Hunchback will be OP. LOL.

Since we appear to have IS mech's becoming clan, does that mean we will have an IS timberwolf. Call it the Treedog

So, Clan only. Pity.
It would be nice to Frankenstein them for the inner-sphere.

The Jenny might have the hitboxes of the IS version, so there's a chance that the Arctic Cheetah might still be preferable or at least comparable to it.

For the Hunchie, it does still have to compete with the Legendary™ Doomcrow, but overall it has a pretty good chance of beating nearly every other medium than that.

I am a bit disappointed,

when Russ said that he felt they could justify selling these at IS pack prices I assumed it was because they needed lots of upgrades, but most of them already have Endo, Fero, DHS and a Clan XL engine.
they are not Omnimechs but I can see no reason for these to be less expensive than the Clan Wave packs.

I have ordered the Orion pack, as I do not usualy enjoy piloting assaults as much as the other weight classes (especially Lights) and the Highlander IIC does not look to offer anything exceptional.

I think we may have a new top tier Light and Medium in this pack

The hunchback will be the least so of the lot. The 4G, 4P, GI and 4J are very heavily quirked.

From Zeece's transcript of the Town Hall:

#New Clan IIC Mech Pack

* Same Price Point as IS Packs 20/40/60/80
* Adjust the same way as IS Mechs
* Jenner
* Hunchback
* Orion
* Highlander
* Art is all original.. not just adjusting the IS mech versions
* Release Dates - Late in the Year
* May be able to tease images as soon as tomorrow

So no fixed equipment, armor, structure, or armour. Just fixed hardpoints.

All the weight savings of Clan weapons. All the space savings of Clan equipment, endo, and ferro. Fully customizable like freebirth mechs (able to change Clan XL engines). If these monsters come without negative quirks (forget positive quirks, they don't need them), they will easily become the top dogs in their weight class. Shame they add up to 250 tons, I'd have my new drop deck.....

Anyone else notice that these look to be Omnis? Or at least as written right now the mechs don't seem to be able to switch engines, also the naming conventions suggest these are Omnis with lettered pods.

Also... Most of these variants are all PGI made. Of all IICs, only the Locust IIC and Jenner IIC actually have 3 variants within the timeline. Heck the Orion IIC is not supposed to have variants as it was a pure update to the weapons in the normal Orion.

I can't say I'm happy about either of those things...

Clan tech is a quirk in and of itself. :P

Clan XL and weapons are the key here, specifically clan dual gauss. If it is a clan XL...

If we look at the record sheets, it is.

The Onion and Lowlander both come stock with STD engines, however.

Nope.

HBK-IIC with dual gauss puts very slightly fewer shells downrange than a Grid Iron does, although it does so firing two at a time rather than one at a time but (slightly) more than twice as fast.

However, the IIC has a Clan XL 200, stripped armor, and no real backup weapons, the GI at the same ammo can run a STD250, dual MPLAS.

The GI can continue fighting with one MPLAS after losing both ST's. The IIC-Dual Gauss has two large, explosive side torsos.

Dual Gauss is more dangerous sniping that one rapid firing gauss, but the comparison between the two mechs is actually quite close.

The engine should be fixed. Where do they speak of swapping engines?

Look at the stock engines, and then look at the max engine limits.
