I read this. I realize it's old but I had a big laugh over it. I mean, all this conjecture. Speculation. Hopes....wrong. All wrong. The IICs are tinfoil. The Jenner is tinfoil. But at least it's speed gives it some viability and while it is far from the greatest light mech you can find yourself dueling other lights pretty well in just about any variant. The Hunchback.....hahahaha....too hot, too slow, made of paper mache and steers like an 18wheeler. The Highlander. Ok. It's actually pretty awesome. Can take a punch, various builds make it pretty customizable and unique across all variants. Of course it has a CT to rival even the most flamboyant AWS. The Orion. Dear sweet God. The Orion. I guess it is irrefutable proof that not even clan tech can make the Orion anything other than the Edsel of the battletech universe. It's very visage a is pimple on the butt cheek of failure. Slower than slow. I mean. It's agony to pilot. I'd rather stick a joystick on a dumpster and have neighborhood children push it around the block as I call audible directions. The hardpoints...*throws up, into dumpster...removes joystick. Children cry...damn tacos...smell terrible* I can't go on. Listen. It's a do over. The only way this mech has a decent round is if you throw 2 LLs on it some LRMs and hide behind your entire team and pray. Pray to whatever deity you hold dear that ANY of the 12 enemies doesn't actually looks your way. Cus you can't tank. You can't run. You can't hide. You can BARELY shoot back (assuming there is open ground between you and your enemy. Cus your guerrilla arms are foiled by friendlies, rocks and passing wind. (hence the NEED for the most inefficient noobie weapon system in the game, a cruel tragedy in itself). I dunno. Maybe in lower tiers people have found success. But as it stands the only way the Orion becomes competitive in tier one bouts is if an Atlas swings it like a club. I'm down for that. But the Orion better get an assist.
