Should The Water On Viridian Bog Be Deeper To Accommodate Leg Mounted Heat Sinks

If the water on viridian bog were deeper, nearly the entire map would offer bonuses to leg mounted heat sinks. The end result would be a single map in rotation where leg mounted sinks were *super effective*. This could promote the use of different builds which otherwise weren't reasonable within the current status quo where there's little to no incentive to loadout leg mounted sinks.

The only detriment is inner sphere mechs being unable to fit DHS on leg slots with clan mechs sometimes having no such limitations.

But if BT tabletop founders had foreseen this problem, I'm sure they would have devsied some type of workaround instead of leaving things unbalanced the way they are. And so they probably wouldn't mind if Russ and friends implemented a system of quirks to fix it. So no worries, guys.

According to this...torso mounted heatsinks also benefit. Maybe.

Quote

There are advantages/disadvantages to be had in putting heatsinks in certain components on a mech, especially pertaining to water and other cooling features.

+ The deeper in water a component containing heatsinks is, the more bonus cooling those heatsinks will do. Having two heatsinks in your right leg and your right leg being 75% submerged in cooling water will give those two heatsinks a 75% cooling boost.

- Steam will emanate from components containing heatsinks if they are being cooled by water or if the ambient temperature is cooling your mech in any way. You will start to see this effect when the mech is at least at a 30% heat level.

Although hard to see it will allow enemies to target components that contain a majority of your heatsinks.

Bold for emphasis.

We don't get many deep pools of water, and water also cuts down on damage, but I can't remember those numbers.

To clarify, most Clan mechs don't have any open leg slots.

I would say that the tooltip about mounting leg heatsinks is an artifact from Closed Beta before there were DHS and where there was a 50% chance of dropping on forest colony or River City, the two maps where it's most relevant.

I never thought about it, but I think it would be cool to have a map that is largely submerged in waist-deep water. I think your original question is out of the blue though. It's like if somebody asked me "What color should the cake be?" to which I respond "Why are we getting a cake?"

On our current maps this affects... Dire Wolves and AC20 Ravens (who have to run SHS to fit enough ammo and armor).

Lol, if only the water also slowed you down alot, so you poor lights, ofc they would be almost entirely submerged....if the water is up to an assault's knees its over a lights head.....
