There is a screenshot that goes with this thread, but it's on my PC. Anyways, I dislike those that start talking outrageous smack in CW only to feign role play when you start to dish out more smack and kills than they do.

About a week ago I was doing a CW pug drop against a 12 man on boreal vault. They had a guy start talking mess (typical IS smack meta fail try hard stuff) to which I of course responded the only way I know how, with more smack. Eventually it got out of hand and I backed off (tbh, too busy showing them the error of their ways.). But this dude would not let up and kept going at it the entire match. I even called out his unit for not reigning him in despite how bad he made them look.

We won that round and most of that 12 disconnected before the end. I had 1500 damage to that guys 400 damage.

TL;DR guy talked smack, couldn't back it up gg close

Just an FYI - Remember the name and shame rules. Don't get yourself in trouble.

I have to agree. There's something really weird going on in CW, where people don't know what roleplaying is. To use the proper terms, they mix the in-character with the out-of-character. It's really weird.

Clanner: "I claim this planet for Clan Wolf!"
Alistair: "Over my dead body, clanner!"
Clanner: "Foolish freebirth! You think you can resist the power of the Clans?"
Alistair: "I'll show you how we do things in the Inner Sphere!"
Clanner: "I don't like your posts on the forum. You're not as funny as you think. And your pixel art sucks."

Most RP i'm seeing in this game is just below first-grader theater play. I'm trying to read over it, but most times it can't be unseen. Cringeworthy stuff.

But your title is misleading. Smacktalking without backing it up is not really related to RP. And what you call "typical IS smack meta fail try hard stuff" doesn't really sound like this embarrassing stuff the RP guys are doing.

THIS! SO MUCH THIS!

I Role Played a Clan Trueborn for 2 years on the old Registry on AOL, it was how we played out most of the 'game' for the league due to the horrible NetDemo we had to play online with. Contractions and using vulgate language were SO out of character and would get you called on the carpet every time you did it.

Whenever I drop against Clan teams and see the contractions and internet shorthand and the vulgate language usage, it drives me clean up the wall when they are supposedly Role Playing as a Clan Trueborn....ugh!

As for smacktalk, it has nothing to do with RPing, it's just something competitive people do, gamers or football players or skiers, you talk smack at your opponents, try to get them upset so they make a mistake. PsyOps are as old as mankind, even older really as animals do it as well.

Just remember kids, it IS just a video game, so don't go overboard ok? It's all just a game after all, so have fun storming the castle, but don't call people things you'd get punched in the face for in real life.
