Quite a few games I've played in the past have some sort of stealth system. One of the things that has bugged me about some of them was that stealth was arbitrary, based on factors in the game that I did not entirely understand and were not easily guessable (World of Tanks, I'm looking at you.). That combined with the fact that mechs have many systems for detecting you that dont correspond to human senses means you need a sensor suite to stay hidden. The Military uses lots of different systems to try and track how stealthy their equipment is. Radar warning Receivers are the ones that are most commonly in movies. Thats the device that gives you the loud beep when a missle is on its way to make your day worse.

I would suggest a similar system for MWO. My acronym stands for visual, thermal, radar, audio, magnetic, but honestly devs could use whatever sensors they see fit. The idea is to have an optional piece of equipment that, at a glance will tell you what your basic level of stealth is, and give you warnings if you are in danger of being detected by any of the above listed means. Operation can be as simple or as complex as you want it. Displays can be anything from a speaker that gives a nondescript warning to individual readouts with red areas for each category.

Firing lots of weapons would make you get heat warnings, magscaners and radar are active so you could detect the scans. Audio warnings would be for movement, possibly excessive noise caused by damage. Not sure about visual, but I figured I'd throw it in.

Just something I thought could be cool.

You are aware BT has already a "stealth armor" mechanism in place? Which just won't be generally available at the 3049 starting point of the game. So if you go by canon, here's BT stealth for you:

Don't forget ECM. Considering this takes place in 3049 though, you aren't going to see any of the crazy stuff the Wizkids pollu... I mean added to Battletech.

Read and understand the OP before you comment please. Monitoring sound, heat levels, RF and mag scans is not anything like stealth armor. Hell you could put it on an Atlas if you wanted, it would just always tell you that yes everyone can see you right now. Some games do it with a lame little stealth meter. I was hoping for something a little more detailed and less absolute. Something that tells you when you are likely to be detected but not when you are detected.
