I am enjoying the amount of 'flak' they are getting by puzzling the picture. HAHA I love these games, it makes their hard worked time worth it and drags out the 'surprise' over the course of the whole day.

I especially love that FlyingDebris put his avatar in the concept art XD

Looking good! Now this will put you really into the Mech, first time in the Mechwarrior series. Much better immersion then the almost fps_only_view we had for cockpits before. Great concept. And Hey!, its nice to have all those infos coming our way, so early on.

99.9% sure it's the Hunchback cockpit, looking forward to getting the rest of the image ;)

Edit: With the radar screen being offset like it is in the image, I wonder if we'll have the traditional HUD as in the previous MW games, or something different.

I believe I know what the red square is for: It represents what the player will actually see in their full view without moving the camera. So, for example, to see the rest of the cockpit, the player would have to use a look key to turn their head. Make's sense, as this view puts most cockpit elements directly within view, except for the very bottom of the radar, and the very bottom of the mech's legs. The entirety of the weapon load out view is visible (that matters to the player, that is).

Well, I think that's the whole picture. Ready for the devs to go ahead and release it all put together. Making me want to pilot a Hunchback now.

We still haven't seen the targeting reticle yet, something which may answer some questions. If it seems that it has the capacity to expand a "shots will land within this circle" sort of reticle, then we might have an answer to the pinpoint accuracy problem.

Or at least see, in static form, how they are choosing to deal with that.

<edit>
Wait a second, we HAVE seen a center cockpit view. What's this? There is no reticle?

Maybe there's no reticule because the pilot spontaneously ejected in a panic after hearing the Incoming Missile alarm while he was staring longingly over the ocean cliff, reflecting upon his earlier years as a child...

That implies there will be an Eject function!

Maybe red border just shows us ingame zone of view. And to look anything outside this border, we will be needed "turn head".

As I say, looks like 3d render, but I'm not sure about ingame, just 2d pic of sea and pre-rendered cockpit.

If the pilot sits this far back then his arms are really stretched out for the controls and visuals look like they will require a "look left / look right" type key bind (or joystick hat).

Still, if this is in game screen caps then things have definitely come a long way since MW 1 (or even MW 4 for that matter).

And this is what it would look like if my theory is correct about the red rectangle:

Ah, there we go. It was missing the majority of the right joystick. I assume because there's nothing on the viewscreen, it must be in some sort of partially powered-down mode. I dunno. Maybe they haven't finished their reticule concept yet. That's reason enough for me. Also, they seem to have included that orange and black "PULL ME TO EJECT" lever below the pilot's legs. So yeah, potential ejection system.

That definitely looks like what's going on.

Targeting data, radar, compass, your mech, target lock/missile warning, chat box, and weapon status list.

I wonder if the view changes as you hit auxiliary controls (spy drone, flush coolant, etc) like in the '09 trailer. Most of the combat controls (obviously triggers, but probably targeting controls as well) would be on the joysticks, so the camera wouldn't move for that kind of stuff.

So I cropped the first person cockpit, I now have a new desktop scheme... although i feel bad not using Hyaden's Hunchback IIC repaint of CGB's Beta Galaxy. I will trade them off every now and then until something else of worth to use comes ;)

I had suggested that if the player presses, say, the map key, the pilot will swivel their head and look (zoom in) at the instrument.

Some interesting details! Note the mechwarrior (an enemy?) on the screen to the left. There's a screen on the right depicting the Hunchback itself, and to the left, a screen depicting... who knows? Possibly a generic mech for the sake of the concept art, or perhaps a hint at a yet-to-be-revealed design?

Pilot: "Are you reading this? Report, (C----?). Do you read?"
Comm Officer: "Received. Thank god, tell (Major?)."
Pilot: "They hit us fast. We can't run. Jammed... My AC-20 is jammed."
Computer: "Coolant ruptured."
Pilot: "Tell my husband I love him."

Text in upper left screen:

Commander: We need to destroy that dropship
before they can take off. Then maybe they'll
just keep...(?)

Primary Objective:
Destroy enemy dropship at Nav Alpha
Secondary Objective:
Destroy all enemy turrets at Nav Beta

Which is just full of info. Turrets? Dropships? Hell yeah!

*edit* also, that enemy mechin the lower left screen looks like it has a "comb" on it's head...Centurion? ;)
