When you are running CAP/ECM or BAP/ECM, the jamming effect of the active probe is overwritten, negated by the ECM which is able to do this as well. You DO NOT get two counter jamming effects, the active probe's counter jamming is completely invalidated, only the the ECM mode is counting on such a mech, meaning you have to choose to be countering or jamming with your ECM alone.

You get the bonuses of extended sensors, faster target information and you can detect shut down mechs. However the BAP/CAP does not counter ECM any more. You need to use the ECM counter function for that functionality.

Thanks, so no auto anti-ECM countering unless I switch the ECM to counter mode.

What about range for the ECM counter mode?

If I recall correctly, the ECM in counter mode only works out to 150m, as opposed to 240m for Active Probe (BAP or cAP) countering ECM and a 180m ECM bubble for ECM in disrupt mode.

Iif you are in a group your best bet would be to ask one of your lancemates to bring a Mech with an Active Probe for counter ECM, of course unless you are dropping with a group there is no way to guarantee that you will have counter ECM

It should be like 400m or 500m. How often do you see shutdown mechs for an ambush in game anyways?

I have seen it in a few drops. Had one where the last shutdown mech had 3 heavier mechs walk right by it, then it started up and took out the last two before being finished off by the first mech and a straggler.

On one match in River City, there were a bunch of corpses near the Theta capture point. Last enemy hid in one of the larger ones, presumably to mask his heat signature. Unfortunately for him, my BAP picked him up.

Is it possible and/or advisable to mount more than one BAP? Not for double functionality, but in case one gets destroyed does the other come into play?
I ask because I have leftover tonnage on my Atlas-S which I physically can't do anything more to, so I want to reduce a bit of excess armor and drop in another BAP.

In addition to what others have said, works wonders when you have Streaks and the enemy shuts down from overheating.
