The reason why I left it as DHS is because nobody wants to keep switching between SHS and DHS (we all dread the DHS tax). The AC/20 build is still by far a trollish build because it still lacks range. I don't want to have to keep two RVN-4X in my stables just because I gotta keep one on DHS, and the other on SHS. That's just wasting mech slots.

A simple refit of that gives you the 2x LPL build, which is symmetrical to the AC/20 build for most part - switch AC20 for dual LPL, ammo and engine for XL 255, armor on arms, and you're done. I hope that's a good enough explanation for why the DHS is still there.

What you're gonna do sustained DPS with maybe 28 rounds if you want enough armor to not instantly evaporate if another light comes your way?

It's flexible too. Drop a ton of ammo and add a ML or TAG for sustained usefulness. Switch to a gauss? Easy.

Remember folks the goal is to be quick enough to exploit opportunities to surgically remove limbs and torsos while carrying enough armor to survive a casual encounter and carry just enough ammo that you only run out of ammo in maybe 1 in 10 fights. If you run out less frequently see if there's something else that tonnage can do for you that is gonna be helpful all the time rather in a handful of outlying cases.

Because quite a few people have a back up weapon ie medium laser or twin smalls.

On top of that, DHS allows you to soak more crit damage and such as well as give you a overall higher cap until you over heat as well as faster rate of dissipitation. meaning on terra therma even if you got 170% heat efficiency if you got at least a weapon or so that makes heat- you can find yourself overheating.

i favour AC20+2SML, and DHS needed with the two additional lasers some times.
same can be done with KFX Prime and UAC20, have seen Syn Pryde use such a thing once.
Epic AC20 light duelling there.
