Greetings,
I have been searching and can't find any updated installation instructions.
For example, does the installer install any components required?
Will it stop near the end and require the repair tool?
Thanks in advance.

The installer is pretty self-contained and self-explanatory and should install any required components that are needed (except for graphics card drivers, that's still on you).

Directx and Drivers should be updated by yourself i guess.
Everythng else is self explanatory.
Could be you need to run it as Admin.

This. I did a clean windows 8.1 installation last week and MWO wouldn't patch until I installed the vc runtime and DX9 packages here:

Lately, on 8.1 following that advice Bilbo it would crash near the end and cause me to use the repair tool.
This time, I did not install those components first, and let's see what happens.
Well, after re-reading the post; I decided to use the repair tool install the program.

And in my experience it's a gamble. Had to roll back more than one driver over the course of playing this game....
The installer, as stated, is pretty self-contained. I only had one instance where at the end there was a popup message recommending the repair tool be run. It's as simple as clicking the .exe.

It was literally the opposite for me. I didn't even consider installing the packages until the installation failed a couple of times.
