Posted this a week or so ago in Workarounds...No replies. Thought I'd try again here:

Have been using Kaspersky Internet Security suite with no game access issues.
Today fully unistalled KIS and replaced it with Kaspersky antivirus and activated Windows 8.1 Firewall - started receiving the error message... Is it Kaspersky or Windows FW?

Tried giving permissions...tried DNS 8.8.8.8 - nothing worked.

Fully unistalled Kaspersky Antivirus, deactivated Window Firewall and reistalled Kaspersky Internet Security suite- all is good again.

Would like to go with the Antivirus (rather than the suite) + Windows firewall. What is the issue??
Why won't it (KAV and/or Win FW) allow me to access server?

Does it have a game modus?

Sometimes the solution is simple. If it have such a modus enable and fire up the game.

Disable Windows Firewall if KIS has a inbuild Firewall.

it is almost definitely Windows Firewall,
a firewall blocks traffic into or out from your computer or network which it does not think should need access, you can use this game with Windows Firewall, but I am not sure which ports will need opening to allow MWO to access the internet

If this was today, the servers were patched earlier today. I've not had a problem with windows firewall but that could be it.
