The trees do not catch fire when hit with a flamer. lol Other than that.... I LOVE the new map. Job well done PGI, well done. Cannot wait to see Forest Colony next. I bet Green Peace will be protesting your office now. I killed every tree I could.... WHY? Because I could.

I couldn't find my marshmallows anyhow, so I'm OK with that oversight.

Back when PGI first put out the map that reused a lot of the assets (factory something? refueling something? Dang if I can remember the map names much anymore) on the test server, I had commented that their skyboxes were worse than boring - they were uninspired for a sci-fi title.

Boy oh boy have they corrected that issue.

New RC looks great. Sadly, I got 1 game on it and I guess the bridge and both sides of it to the north are t he new citadel? both teams camped on either sdie and sniped before our team rushed across. LEast the game lasted 15m and we won on time out 11-6.

PPCs just are odd. More velocity is nice, but they a re just odd. Aim way out in front and still have shots land behind targets. Thing about PPCs I see is in tight spaces sniping you cant put enough lead on w/o hitting buildings. THey are terrible snap shot weapons. To much lead requiredd to get hits.

Hit reg seemed ok though.

600 dmg in 2 games, 1st game, no kills, survival, 2nd game i spent my time dicking around the base then came up on the tail end of the fight and racked up 3 kills in a matter of seconds wiht my 4x LPL build. Got the final guy in base as he tried to cap haha.

If we had a forest map and the heat would effect Mechs,,,the FS9 would be forever OP!

One thing about the trees that bugs me however, when you walk over one it gets "detached" from the ground and is punted around like I would an empty cardboard box.

It's odd how the trees are transparent to lasers, but they block targeting signal lock. Go into the training grounds and try it. If you put a tree between yourself and an enemy mech, you can shoot them with lasers, but you will lose lock if it covers too much of them.

They need to either have trees block lasers, or let the targeting info through.

New RC is fantasic. Love the new texturing as well.

Those that are complaining about the distracting moon, watery space to the far side etc....well that's certainly a valid opinion, but for ME they in no way are negatives. Overall, great redo of an old pain in the arse.

Well, now there will be a new kind of scouting.. you can tell a mech was there by the amount of toppled trees and lampposts, and actually see the movement by noticing the omniously dissapearing lampost lights during the night rotations..

I wonder if anyone at PGI thought of that..

On one map Yes but put that Firestarter on Mordor... Not as fun I would think.

lol. I literally caught myself blinking in surprise when I saw trees falling as I walked into them...I then spent the next 20 minutes doing nothing but finding every tree on River City and knocking it down.

Priceless.

I think you should think about that one more time. Should a laser made for burning through mechs be as hindered by a tree as a laser made for determining the position of an enemy mech. I'm not sure what sort of technology the TAG is supposed to be, but either it bounces the laser, or it is fact two lasers, and the angle between them is used to determine the distance to the target. Either case a tree would block the TAG, yet do little to a pewpewkill laser.

My first time on the map, I think both teams spent the first 4 minutes just running around knocking down trees. Not a shot fired in anger lol.

I think they said that they couldn't be 100% sure that the trees reacted the same way on everyone's screen. So they stopped short on some effects they wanted to include such as stopping shots and catching fire.
