The Class V JJs weren't changed, so it has been able to do that for a while....

This is exactly what Russ said he was going to do - increase thrust but reduce fuel so overall height stayed relatively even but you got there faster. This was not a surprise change, folks.
Take what you can get. We've gone from hovering to hopping, that's a step forward. Celebrate it on the way to actually jumping, rather than lament that we didn't get there in a single bound.
