A more sophisticated answer would be for the PGI devs, if they feel so inclined, to consider adding Turrets to the consumables list. You would have your choice of Turrets with varying prices from basic Laser turrets to a Calliope. This would require a specialized consumable slot that is only usable when you drop on an Assault map. Where you will get an option to add your Turret to defend the base. Similar to the Ready button, except this button would actually do something.

Thats why there is a skirmish mode. Pirimary objective in assault mode is the base.
Exactly.
Primary objective in Assault is the base.....so why would you hand off the primary objective to AI? Do you want a bunch of little AI Light Mechs in Skirmish too to help you out with the primary objective there too? LOL
Again, if you don't want to have to work to defend a base................uncheck Assault and go play Skirmish. It's no different than unchecking Conquest if you don't want to play that game type. If all you want to do is charge to the same grid square over and over and fight until someone wins, Skirmish was designed just for you.
Seriously, people need to just play what they want instead of trying to make us all play what they want. The last thing this game needs is FEWER game types.
Assault - PRIMARY objective, capture enemy base without losing yours
Skirmish - PRIMARY objective, destroy enemy team
Conquest - PRIMARY objective, secure 750 points from cap points
All of these game types are very self explanitory and very easy to select what you want to play.
BTW, pretty little turrets don't stop dedicated base rushes, they are still very easy to accomplish. What they do is remove the ability for a team that's down on kills to still secure the primary objective when a foolish enemy leaves their PRIMARY OBJECTIVE undefended. Which removes any real need for the game type as it has very little if any difference from another game type.

The CT on the Awesome was invulnerable. I agree that the Awesome should be shrunk down to the size of the Zeus, but asking for PGI to keep the CT invulnerable, is asking for a crutch.

There is only 1 game mode. Kill all the enemy. This game is really that simple. Regardless of "mode" a player decides to play, its all the same, kill all the enemy game over, next!.
Same thing with mechs. Apply quirks, mech becomes op. Players cry about op quirked mech. Mech is de-quirked. This game is really that simple.
Solution:
1. Convert "Training Grounds" to " Campaigns (Solo drops)" Let players "follow the lore of Battletech" or some such adventure. Complete mission, battles, etc. IS players can fight Clans (AI's) during the those "adventures, campaigns,ec" and vice versa for players that are Clans.
2. Leave the other "game modes" as is. So that a player, unit, etc can still participate in those environments.
This solution will alleviate players complaining about this mech being op, or that mech being op with quirks or no quirks. Or players being "too good" for the new players. Although I do realize that this solution will have problems to implement, ai's, environment, logistics, etc. but this solution will give players the option to actually FIGHT/Combat/Campaign against a NON-Player mech entity. Thus the player will only complain about the "adventure(s)" being too easy/too hard. Anyway, just a thought.

I like that idea. Surround myself with turrets, leave enough space to dodge arties/air strike. Turrets don't miss like those on my team, to include myself!

I will push the line here...
Upgrade them to Calliopes! Force tactical movement! Get rid of base camping! Create a defensive grid that can defend itsself!
Wrong. The turrets went in and all of a sudden bases nearly never got attacked... the whole point of assault is to attack the enemy base or defend your base. Turrets took that out of the game. It's not 'base camping' to defend it's called playing part of the objective.
Why do you even play this game if you just want AI to do it all for you?

Sorry, circa 3050 the Dire Wolf is supposed to be the "king of the battlefield".
