The first two matches right after patch seemed to have better HSR, but went down more and more with every match following. This morning, HSR was back right to it's old totally useless state. :( Lasers, PPCs, ACs, SRMs, nothing works reliable.

Oh well, plan B will work maybe. But I hate to be forced to play on different a server than my unit friends.

I await with bated breath at the results. The HSR part is the most important thing for me.

You mean that thread where's all the b***ing about lights? No thank you.

I am talking about having non-working hit registration on any size of targets.

Actually I get the feeling that PGI disabled the new HSR code server-side again, hm. The last couple of matches where exactly the same bad hit reg quality like all the weeks/months before.

I got time for a few games and found my damage was 30-50% higher than I seemed to get.

Maybe I drew a few games of lower skilled pilots than usual, or maybe it's working well

When I played my adders, it felt like I was on the receiving end of more damage than usual. I just kind of died over and over again.

An hour later, I took out my Executioner with 8xMPL, and it feels like it's back to the old terrible HSR. Invulnerable spiders and Firestarters, etc. It appears that speedy mechs are still running lag armor.

I've found it considerably easier to leg lights. Huggins, firestarters, cicadas it is much easier to bring them down. I'd say there's a noticeable improvement.

I believe after we have a full couple of days of data we will be able to report on the actual improvement level

I'm very curious to see if any other aussies, or players with 200+ ping, have played since patch and noticed any difference.

Anyway, only about an hour of work left and I'll be home to test out and see.

The last match I played was getting server desync, mechs moon walking and then suddenly getting disconnected from the game servers. Funny, when I tried to rejoin - I was sent to a wrong match (different map) and promptly got disconnected again.

So, from what I can observe: right after the patch, the hit reg was very much improved (a friend who also played together with me also noticed that). A couple hours later, the HSR feels like before the patch: very very difficult to hit lights, even standing heavies or assaults go down only after putting in way too many alpha strikes/hits.

@ Russ:

Thanks alot for posting here!

The most obvious think I notice when I have bad hit reg: my alphas don't do internal/critical damage to structure/components on the targets. So I get the "basic" damage the weapon does (or a fraction of it), but the "extra" secondary damage you normally would get is missing. And actually that damage is what helps you alot to kill your targets. Without that, you get too much heat cost / face time and very likely die too early.

I think it is better.

Played only one game this morning, to test HSR.

Way more damage than expected, more kills than expected, but I think the true telling was the ten components. That may indicate to me arms and legs being hit more often. Maybe, as I cannot datamine the game.

Looking good though.

However I was sober........

And the team played a fantastic match, solo pugging.

Every time an improvement in HSR is touted, the first 1-2 days seem like sunshine and happiness and then HSR falls back to where it was. Perhaps it's not just a coding centric issue but also a server/infrastructure performance issue.

Seems like I was able to peg lights better but that could be the faster PPC speed.

My experience with MWO and Hitreg is such that right after patching the Hitreg is often the best and from there on degrades slower or faster but steadily toward the next patchday that fixes it again for a while - sometimes a very few days, sometimes a week, if the patch did not break it anyway.

In reality we can not say if the percived effect yet is only the temporary patchday effect or a permanent improvement - we have to wait for when time will tell us.

Im in Oz and I seemed to be getting higher damage numbers than usual. Could be a few lucky drops too, so only time will tell

Hello shadow magnet, I am from roughly the same area in germany (bodman-lud.)that you are from. It may not be the game or pgi's side this time. I constantly experience bad / unstable ping and hitreg between 1800 and 2200 utc mostly for tuesdays wednesdays and thursdays. It sounds a Bit strange, i know.

I am using KabelBW, ping is usually 103-112, sometimes goes up to 130-140 but not very often. How much is the ping fluctuating for you?

Can tell you that I seem to be getting significantly better hit reg. Not so much in my damage numbers but I can just tell that I'm scoring much more accurate hits with my lasers.
