YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

High mounted SRM6/LRM hardpoints. Besides that, they are just SO aesthetically pleasing.....

The LRM positioning in the high regions of the torso look like an Amazing buff to the 8R, perhaps if LRMS see any love this awesome variant will be the new LRM go to boat. If you run 1 energy slot in the torso you get a slightly higher mounted advantage, at least for the 8Q but using 2 energy hard points in each torso is much much worse, no more perfect convergence and the 2nd slots have lower mounts. I can't tell for sure atm but I think the 9M gets a slight mount increase on lasers.

Huh that is cool, I saw the camo pattern changing when he was equipping weapons but I didnt realise it was because of this missile placement. Good catch!

We've come a long way from "just tuck a blocky box on the model". PGI is definitely gaining some experience in making the models aesthetically pleasing.

All the missile faceplate are nice now. Anyone else was looking at the X5 with 2 ppc and 2 lrm10 thinking "yeah right" LOL

I think the first mech I'm going to play is my Pretty Baby after I rebuild it.

I mean, if we're being honest with ourselves, that's exactly what a small mech with big weapons tacked on should look like. Or do you want more celery-stalk PPCs on light mechs?

No, I wouldn't mind one bit if that PPC was much larger. In fact, I'd welcome it. I like big guns.

What I DO mind is that it isn't bigger, and instead they tacked on a horrendously bad-looking blocky dual-hardpoint box on that arm - an arm that only has a single energy hardpoint!

Of all the Commando variants, there is a single one with more than one energy hardpoint in the left arm, yet ALL of them got that dual-hardpoint ugly black box.

Check out Bishop Steiner's thread about PPC size, where he photoshopped a Firestarter to carry a properly sized PPC.

Between you and me, if we're being honest...

Spoiler

Maybe, but medium lasers shouldn't be equally huge.

While in general the dynamic weapon updates have ranged from "meh" to "oh, heavens - what have you done?!" (Catapult, Jagermech, the original Centurion Lego-arm, etc.), the Awesome at least is mostly an improvement.

It's also I believe the only mech thus far to get a noticeable chance in physical hardpoint location on the model (high mounted missile launchers), which only goes to show us all just how horrible the Awesome has been for so long - it needed THAT level of help.

But hey - good-bye sagging-gut, cardboard box missile launchers!

You mean make the commando bigger?

Well... what else would need to be done to make it in any way viable after that? It would need some pretty badass quirks.
