Feel free to discuss.

Like it or not? Need improvement or fixing?
Any, bugs, stuck places found, please share.

My feedback so far:

Good
Looks cool – textures overhaul very very nice. Totaly stoned by the overall looking. Good design, many new cover, lots place for maneuver.

Need improvement
Sky is BAD. No clouds… looks strange. Background planet are too eye catching and on the dusk/night time has the almost same color as city ambient so I loose horizon line and can’t see clearly where buildings are placed . It’s also do damn sharp – because of the glass clear sky. Is there no atmosphere in river city planet? Those background can’t be visible so clear, please make it bit shaded by the clouds especially in the day. And last this background planed is glued to the horizon? It’s not mowing with day time – its looks really straaaaaaaaange.
Water behind cargo ship – zone extended BUT there is no ramps around – I accidently fall in water and without jump jets I have no otherchoise but go back all around cargo ship to the central area to get back on solid ground.
NIGHT - Is Too bright (on stock settings brightness) comparing with old one is very and very bright so no thermal nee and thats SAD.

Bugs:
Trees on nearest streets with citadel sometimes jump in the air on the mech height while knocking down – looks funny.
Are trees falling under fire? – I tried few times but nothing happening, looks like they not afraid of fire, but in preview video they did.

Anyway GREAT JOB, waiting for forest colony

The big open water area and starport runway need to be zoned off and put out of bounds. They serve little purpose beyond making it easier for a long-ranged team to camp those spots. With almost 1200m of open ground to cross, any mid to close range team will have no hope whatsoever.

The only thing that bothers me so far is the background. It looks beautiful, but it feels like a tiny diorama for our toys, not like it's part of a vast landscape. Why? Because you can only see the closest mountains in the horizon, there's very little layering going on. And the extremely sharp edges and crystal clear texture on the frickin huge planet on the sky* makes it look like it's no more distant than the mountains at the edges of the map. Again, the whole map feels like a tiny diorama.

* Astronomy buffs (Edit: Derp), tell me if that planet isn't waaaay too big. When it takes up that much of the sky, it would need to be relatively close for its size, right? I'm not sure even Jupiter looks that big when seen from its closest moons. And that's a gas giant!

I noticed compare to other maps - The New River City runs at a significantly lower frame rate than other maps. I suspect it has to do with the time of day change that occurs on the map....

Just played my first match on New River City. The match played out exactly like it played out a thousand times before. The match was a left handed NASCAR race centered around the citadel just like always. All of the new terrain was completely ignored.

I notice intermittent FPS spikes on this map.

I've been getting that on other maps as well since this patch. Others have been mentioning it in game as well.

Personally my few games I've played on it so far have been pretty interesting.

What I've noticed is that naturally games are currently going very similar to how they were before. Old habits are definitely still there.

But. What I've also noticed is that said games are drastically more interesting. More cover, more approaches, similar manoeuvres to before, but there seems to be more depth. The map is now much more open to experimenting. It's much easier to stealth around flanks and as a light/medium pilot I've had a lot of fun poking around and then disappearing into the urban landscape.

And of course, the lighting is gorgeous and the new building designs feel much better than before.

It's definitely a step up from before at any rate and I'm looking forward to seeing some of the other maps redone.

Dear mayor of River City:

Please move your buildings, rocks, and water around so our mechs can shoot each other better.

thank you

Beautiful map and possibly greatly improved game play..... Well done PGI! Only two games on it so far and both were fought over around the Citadel area. Both, btw, were good games, one was during morning hours and one was at night.

I do hope we get out of our old habits and play this entire map. It looks like there are lots of good spots to fight over and scouts might be highly useful again. If you could add changeable mission objectives like making one side defend while another attack, or both attack, or designating a random building/facility or even the dropship as something to blow up or protect for a certain length of time we would be in mech heaven!

One comment about that big planet though. It looks nice and all but wouldn't the gravity fluctuations and therefor the tides/earthquakes be deadly?

The map itself is good. The playerbase though is still absolutely stupid. Give them a much bigger map with better spawn locations and they just wanna nascar around the same part as before. The funniest thing is that they complain about nascar then start to nascar like no tomorrow.

I'm Breaking the cycle when ever i get the chance and stay somewhere in the new areas and if i'm the last survivor so be it. People rage and yell at me and all i can tell them is this who dies first is dead longer. Then i ride of into the sunset and have a blast using the new areas while they continue to rage and i laugh at them in glee.

I miss the rockets and effects showing a battle raging outside the city.

Yes the city is alot tighter to move around in and race through the streets and the mountain roads offer some flanking routes or places to evade to. Only played it with a fast mech so far.

I just run over trees and smile as I do so.
The art is beautiful. It must be destroyed

Noooo, that star port is cool.

And do people actually use other sections of the map now? As for 1200m of open ground, its got a mountain right beside it....

Only if both teams are ********.

If one team get to the new place, and stay there , the other one who will daytona citadel, will loose. But as you said, stupid playerbase.

Two planets that close would probably crash into each other because of their gravitational fields. But it looks cool.
Or River City is situated on this planet's moon (in a Biodome maybe..).

Looks beautiful, but I'm DCing from it every time it comes up from now on.

Last game I dropped there, my FPS was 4.

This patch has hurt my FPS on all maps, but the new River City is just unplayable. I've tried.

Edit - Yes, I ran the repair tool. Yes my drivers are updated. Yes, my settings are on low, like they always have been.

Mine dropped too, although not as drastically as yours seem to have done.
