My impression is very positive on the design, due to abundance of colors and the scale. I do hope the fog in it will dissipate as the dynamic time goes on. Otherwise, I might just stay in heat vision and miss all the beauty.

For reference, an atlas is estimated to be 16m tall which equal to 52.5ft.

Some tree site said:
Redwood is a rapidly growing tree, and some individual trees have been measured at more than 360 feet (110m) in height, making it the tallest measured tree species on the earth.
Atlas height = 16m or so apparently.

They're also rather rare. The vast majority of trees don't even grow half that tall.

You couldnt be more right. The River City map being redone in this way shows the potential for all the maps. This map redo situation really shines a light on where the entire game is at the moment and how well the content in game is going to turn out once complete.
There is a ton of content missing is one of the big complaints I have. i have no problem seeing the potential of the maps in game or how cool the Galaxy map will be.

We only have the one sample of planets with trees on so far Joe, so that's where I'm taking my statistics from
Also, there's plenty of ridiculously large trees on Viridian Bog, we don't really need another map to make our 'mechs seem human-sized.

There needs to be other visual cues to establish the fact that mechs are bigger than people
Big trees, big rocks, big caves, big waterfalls, fine. But the map needs to have something that creates a frame of reference so you instinctively know that you're in a big f***ing mech when you're walking through the map. In River City, the whole city creates this frame of reference, there are plenty of visual cues. Like tiny cars and tiny traffic lights.
If they don't insert loads of man-made infrastructure, buildings, vehicles, etc, walking through a forest of giant trees is going to feel like walking through a forest of regular trees, on foot. It's "Forest Colony", so put some more Colony stuff in there. Trucks, hovercraft, cargo crates, helipads, fortifications, etc.

Your right, aside from a few missing elements, the rules that apply on earth apply everywhere.

To be fair... I don't think Bogs have trees that match some forests for height. Just sayin'.

Depending on which rules you're talking about, sure. Laws of physics? Yep, should be the same everywhere. Lots and lots of evidence of the laws of physics being the same on each and every non-terrestrial place we've looked at.
Biology though? There's a sample size of exactly one here. We haven't found anything even remotely like life anywhere else but here on Earth.
Sure, if there was this planet like Earth, and if it had trees, and if it had the same kind of atmosphere, soil composition, etc etc, basically if it was an exact copy of Earth, we could reasonably expect trees there to look the same as here.

Not complaining, cause the new river city is amazing, and as long as they keep up the good work it's worth the wait... I had fun with the ****** maps ...anyway...

Lots of Sci-Fi stuff has rather large trees.
